A lamprey CAN attach to a human, but they don´t usually get the chance because people don´t like those fish biting their skin. Who would?? I believe that there are a few reports of hagfish attaching to people, and they are relatives of lampreys. (I don´t know how successful the attempted attachments were, however).
And leeches attaching to fish is a possibility. However, the scales that cover most fish don´t leave many good spots for a leech to attach. And everyone knows that leeches aren´t the world´s best swimmers, and most fish could quickly outdistance them.
So both potential attachments are difficult, to say what any diligent lamprey or leech would say if it tried these things.

Lamprey question has been answered! As for leaches, many are very specific as to which type of host they will take! Some prey only on turtles, some take crayfish as hosts, while indeed some leaches will feed only on fish.

Of course leeches can attach to a fish, what do you think they do all day long? Watch for fisherman?
But I don't know about a lamprey, seems they like certain fish.

leeches are good bait for a lot of sportfish - bass, walleyes and perch - don't think they'd get the opportunity. You would certainly feel the lamprey attaching and prevent that.

don't know what a lamprey is but leech don't discriminate between a nice blood meal so fish will do if they can catch it.
