great question. its as simple as this. christians assume that because their bible says something its true...then it must be true.
youve got to remember that christians have accepted the bible as absolute truth, ignoring logic, common sense, common knowledge and their basic understanding of science.

I can only answer this from my own personal experiences. The words of the Bible have brought me wisdom, happiness, comfort, strength, and so much more. The Holy Bible is a living thing. The more you read the closer you get to our Father in Heaven. I am an avid reader of all kinds of books, not only religious ones. The Bible has had more of an impact on my life than anything I've ever read. God Bless you and I hope you discover for yourself the awesome strength and love between those pages.

LOL @ PERSON ABOVE. Saying that every other book is the word of "god" isn't a good argument either. Maybe not the "word" or your "god", but it the word of someone else's "god" or "gods". Alot of Christians like to take the attitude of "read the Bible because it says so", and act like it's the only "truth" Sorry, I'm putting everything in quotations. Anyway, I grew up among conservative Christians, and it never surprises me how people with the most narrow minds love flappin' their lips.
Dagfinn said "Well the difference is in the fact that Jesus was resurrected, proving his divinity. Jesus was seen by hundreds of people after his death and their are personal recorded accounts." IMO, That doesn't really prove anything, and it's not a good reason to believe what a book that written thousands of years ago, and translated who knows how many times says. Hundreds of people have seen David Blaine do crazy stuff. Maybe Jesus was the David Blaine of his time, lol.

Many people use circular reasoning when attempting to prove the Bible is right. many say "you cant use circular reasoning By trying to prove the Bible by quoting the Bible. The problem is that this statement is simply absurd, Thats Like saying you cant prove the President Lives in the white house by looking in the white house. In actuallity it is Looking into the white House that will provide neccesary Proof. The Fullfilled prohecies, amazing accuracy and the Many scientific statements Many statements were thousands of years Later proven to be true, are all evidence of The Bible's supernatural origin. What are some actual facts that prove the Bible's supernatural origin? Here's a couple. 1. the Bible is completly unique in its conitnuality. Over 1,600 years all the Books of the Bible were written by foutry authors whom never met and came from different periods and economical standing. yet there words all stand Togehtewr as If it were coming from one source. 2. It is unique in with standing attack- No other Book in History has beeen so attack as the Bible has been. Ad 300 Roman Emperor Diocletien Order all Bibles to be burned. The emporer Belived that by destroying the Bible he could destroy the christian religion. 25 years Later Constantine ordered 50 Copies of the Bible made at Goverment expense. Voltaire whom was Known to have Destroyed the faith of many people, Boasted that in 100 years of His death the Bible would dissapear from the face of the earth. In 1728 Voltaire died but the Bible is in existence Today In 2006 and stronger than ever. Infact the First printing presses used to print the first Bibles belonged to Voltaire, and the printing began in his house. It is obviouse here that when it comes to error and inconsistency we have been the ones at fault. The BIble has stood alone through the ages while mankind in there hasty Judgements have fallen by the wayside.
More Importantly, when we die we will all stand before God and give an account of every thought word and deed. the Ten Commandments will be Gods standard so let's look at a few to see How you will do on Judgement day. Have you ever lied? have you ever stolen something? Ever Looked with lust? Ever used God's name in vain? if you have said yes to these questions, your guilty of breaking Four of the Ten Commandments (Im guilty also). The BIble says if we stand before God and he Judges us according to our sin we will end up in Hell. Thje Good news is that Jesus came and suffered and died on the cross for our sins. repent (turn from sin) and trust Jesus as your Lord and savior and God will grant you everlasting life.

Because the bible gives a perfect account of Jesus. The old testament is important in understanding the new testament. And you might say " Well what sets Jesus ahead of any other ""Holy man"". Well the difference is in the fact that Jesus was ressurected, proving his divinity. And you might question his ressurrection. Jesus was seen by hundreds of people after his death and their are personal recorded accounts. Noone can accurately argue that Jesus never died, so why was his tomb found empty? "Maybe they stole his body". There was a roman patrol guarding his tomb, and a roman seal was placed on the stone covering.
History agrees with the Bible

It does not. The bible is is like a history book. I have study religion for a long time and this is what i have learned. People are like sheep and for many many generation, people have said that, and since there like sheep's, people start to believe that and then the start going crazy and tell people that it says so. It does not say so. All the bible is, a history book telling you about god, the rules and the history about heaven and hell. Christians get so obsess about there religion, they become sheep's and only get the part they get from the book is about how to get to heaven and they get brainwashed like that they want people to read it and start going crazy and write books and tell people that it is require to. It is not require to.

Christians read the Bible because it is the Word of God. It's His message to us. If you don't believe in God, then you really don't have a need to read the Bible unless you want to know more about Him.

I guess I would challenge you to read about King James I of England. He was the King which chartered the translation and writing of the King James Version of the Bible. This remarkable man was absolutely brilliant and he gathered many of the greatest minds in the world to create this Bible. The accuracy of their translation is quite unerring and a testament to the brilliance they displayed.
