Why does a bottle of water cost $1.50+ per bottle yet you can get a 24oz can of beer for 99 cents?

Anything to make us live longer usually cost more. If something is no good for you it is really cheap.

Go figure. Why is everything at the fast food resturant's listed on their DOLLAR MENU are the worst for us!!!

Because that is what you'll pay, and because it's an even figure. Most bottled water, FYI, costs the retailer less that $.30 per bottle. That's a high figure even, $.20 would be more like it. It's a high profit item, and that is why stores have more and more shelves of bottled water, flavored water, etc. Beer is about $.45 cost to a retailer.

Because there are so many fools willing to pay money for the privilege of drinking one of earth's most abundant natural resources from a glitzy container with a glitzy name. (I do not count locations or situations where water is scarce or very inconvenient to acquire; bottled water can be very handy in such cases, though it can often still be collected much more cheaply.)

One motivation to buy is that it's trendy. Another is that people are scared (needlessly, in most developed locations) that their tap water is unsafe. Yet another is that people claim it tastes better (despite blind taste test results). More consequences of marketing and superficiality flushing away facts and reason... and of cattle mentality. Never mind that the bottlers are often getting the water from the same tap you could.

Evian isn't the only one, and it wasn't their intention to make fun of consumer foolishness, as the urban legend goes... but it's more than a little fitting that reversing the letters in the name spells 'naive.'

Supply and demand... bottlers charge what the market will bear. It wasn't always this way, but they've suckered millions of cash cows and have no reason to dry up, now. It's fad gone mad.

It is also a huge source of garbage, and a huge waste of energy (for making plastic and for transportation).

Amazing and pathetic in a developed society, if you ask me. And you did.

Boggles the mind don't it! How about milk $ 3.xx something a gallon or gasoline same price! Yet one they get fresh from the tap locally put it in a box and distribute it the other they pump out of the ground put in a ship that travels 1/2 way round the globe has to be refined and then trucked to a delivery site! anything good for you will cost $$$$..... Its cheaper to be poor and unhealthy... That's the kind of society we live in... the poor are suppose to stay poor and are forced to live sub-humanly.. Explain to me why..... you wont find fresh poultry and produce in a ghetto neighborhood.. the meat would be days from being consumable and the produce wilted... We live in a wasteful society... where the almighty dollar is more important than the health of a child or their family.....
