This is depends on what caused you sleepless. A very effective way is to prepare some warm water in a longbath. Add 8 to 12 drops of Lavendar or chamomile Essential oil & some seasalt into the water and stay in the warm water for about 20 minutes. If you do this once, it may last you for 3 or 4 days sleep easier & faster.

Use your bed for sleeping only. Dont watch TV or do homework while in bed.
Get into a routine of going to bed and waking up at the same time.
If you are having trouble falling asleep, do something really really REALLY boring for awhile and then try sleeping again.

Self hypnosis...Tell yourself everyday, any time you think of it...tonight when I go to bed, I'm going to take 3 deep breaths and begin to relax quickly and easily, I will fall asleep quickly and easily, sleep deeply, soundly, and comfortably throughout the night, awakening in the morning feeling rested, refreshed, healthy, and full of energy. Then when you go to bed take those 3 deep breaths, inhale deeply hold for about 5 seconds and exhale deep from within, releasing all tension, stress, etc.Repeat through the 3 deep breaths. Do this everyday till your mind accepts the program and before you know it . It will become Reality. It is that easy to program your subconscious mind.

Try melatonin. My doctor told me to use it when I had to change shifts for work. It is somthing your body produces naturally and is over the counter. I would start with the 500 microgram dose. It works great!

try to stay awake. force yourself to stay awake (but stay in bed otherwise it won't work or you'll pass out in an uncomfortable position). it works for me. when you try to go to sleep, you can't. o when you try not to, you do.
