And continue to allow him to be a leader. Funny how that works, as King he still was annointed and still ruled. (and in Hebrews is praised for having a heart for God - and not remembered for his sins....).

I believe the church would forgive him but would not allow him to remain in a leadership position. David lived in another time prior to the coming of Christ so man was still feeling his way along Today we have the roadmap in the Bible and the path is clear cut. The Bible clearly spells out what is sin and what is not sin. A Pastor today would have little excuse for his actions. If he commiited the acts David did he would definitely not be allowed to keep his position.

The church is not God or Christ.

Man is born in sin, all he has to look foward to is the death penalty.

God sent his son, that those that believe in Jesus that God sent, might be saved. Nathan had to point out to David what he had really done. He was punished for it, and he was sorry for what he had done, but can not change it.

Jesus said, Sodom and Gomorrah would repent faster than Jerusalem, if they knew God's purpose.

Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

He is remembered maybe most for his sins or rather his repentance
His heart for God was most seen in his sorrow for his sin. Psalm 51 has brought comfort to many when they see a glimpse into his repentant heart after sinning and Psalm 32 also shows the joy of knowing forgiveness. These and many more he penned out of his love for God who forgave him.

He asked forgiveness from God. God forgave him. He did not sin again. Moreover he suffered the consequences of his sin through out his life.
He was forgiven and allowed him to continue the leadership because he made the restitution.

If he truly repented he would be allowed to be a Preacher again in due time, heck Jim Bakker commited his Sins but has since repented and is now Preaching the word of God again (and this time he is for real unlike what he use to be).

Probably not, There was a Pastor of a Baptist church in Florida was had a affair with a married woman. He had to step down from his leadership. So I would say no.

no, i don't think the church would allow him to remain in leadership. i've seen too many times when men who have been called by God have commited "lesser" sins and been through out of the ministry forever...it is a sad state of afairs.

hah guess nothing has changed, and sin is not what you think it is. Manmade law has been a fight cuz what we think may not be right. David I think is in heaven because he was a man after God's own heart meaning love was his first and formost motivation but we do backslide.

Maybe not - probably not... but what's most important is not if Man (or Woman) would forgive him but that God would and did and would today too.

to tell you the truth i think he would have been convicted of two murders, both of which resulted in his aquireing a wife. it makes you wonder if there were more than that.
