Airplane as I knew it, was when you held the wrist of the left arm and the ankle of the left foot of a child and began spinning them around in a circle (not too fast) going no further than your chest height. Gently of course. Be sure to hold on to them when you stop, as they may be a bit dizzy.
There is another one where you lie on your back, with your knees bent and crunched up to your stomach or chest. Hold the wrists of the person you are going to lift, then place your feet on their lower chest area. Lift them up with your legs gently at first until you get the hang of the balance and get used to lifting them. Don't let go of their wrists. Doing this on a soft surface would be safer.
Little kids love these two games.
Have fun!!

My brothers used to do that to me when I was little. One person lays on his/her back on the floor. The other person is balanced on that person's feet, and puts his/her arms out like they are flying. (The person on the bottom has to lift the person on top so the person on bottom winds up in an L shape. )
CAUTION: If the people doing this don't have good balance, it's possible someone could be seriously hurt doing this. (Thank goodness, we never were, but we did have a few tumbles.) It might be hard to explain a 5 year old's broken nose at ER - so please use caution and toss some pillows around while you are at it!

You lie on your back and put your legs in the air, bending your knees so your feet are at the height of the stomach of the child. The child stands pressed against your feet and you and the child hold hands with both hands. Then you straighten and lift your legs so the child is "flying" on your feet directly above you. You keep hold of the child's hands so they don't fall. When you're done, you return your legs to their original position so the child lands safely on his/her feet. I don't believe your gender or the child's puts any restrictions on this.

You lay on the ground on you back, feet flat on the floor with your knees bent. Have him stand by your feet, put your feet just below his stomach by his hips, hold his hands and lift then once he is balanced let go of his hands.

Ok.. I have to agree this question was phrased badly... but... to play superman.. the old method is to grab them by the arms and spin them around... this is bad for the joints... The best way is to grab their whole body and lift them up either over your arms or head, or whatever and let them lay in that positon while you spin around...
