The 4th of July is not generally a celebration day in New Zealand. We are more likely to think about drinking heaps at Easter and Christmas time. But for others any day is a good day!!

People who need an excuse to drink will be sloppy-*** drunk with no clue what the holiday is all about... sure it's a celebration of our independence from England and all that, but people can't simply toast special occasions anymore... they have to get falling-down drunk and obnoxious. Some fun, eh? Yes, I drink socially and on special occasions, but I grew out of my need to get drunk to prove my manhood or to escape from my fears or problems a long time ago!

I don't get drunk, so not I. I sometimes have a margarita but this July 4th will be spent with family.

I don't usually either, but I'm hosting the party and I've been saturating a watermelon with vodka for the last couple of days, so I kinda have to.
