you should definitely be proud of your dog!!!!!! I also have a pitbull and she is the sweetest , most loving, fun, silly, affectionate, and loyal dog!!!!!!!!! these dogs are simply wonderful! unfortunately this breed became so popular ( because they are so wonderful) and in its popularity it became known to gangster / thug types of individuals that the breed is strong, has been used in fighting, has a strong grip on its opponent, and very loyal to its owner... so it became a favorite of the wrong type of owner, who trained it to go after people as well as other dogs, bred it with other bigger dogs hoping to make it even more intimidating, and still called it a pit bull...so now you have these dogs getting loose after being mixed /bred and trained to attack people .. media has reported these dogs as pitbulls when in reality many of them are not ( many other breeds are mistaken and falsly reported as pitbulls), or are mixes that are believed to be pitbulls... so then people read these horror stories and think the whole breed is like this..when in fact it is nothing like this!!!!!!! so we are talking misinformation, and fear built on false facts..leading to a demand to ban the breed... years ago it was the doberman that was feared and misaligned, then the rottweiler, now its the pitbull.. and if they ban them... it will be another breed that will become popular with unscrupulous people as well as good people.. and the circle will continue...there are no "bad" breeds there are only "bad" owners that raise/ mistreat/ train/ or do not train the breed properly...we as owners of this fantastic breed need to get the truth out there / educate the media and show our wonderful pitbulls so people will understand how wrong they are about them.. before it gets to the point that the breed will disappear... and that would be a sad day for us all...and for people who do not own/love this breed but love dogs... don't think your breed can't be next on the hit list!

I have P/B's and my son has 3 P/B's. We are also proud & responsible owners. Over the years, I have found them to be loving, well behaved, and fun pets. I have friends who take their P/B to homes for the elderly as visiting dogs. Yes, they are lots of work. No ONE should own one if they are not dedicated to raising them and learning about them. I am so tired of people saying they are bad! It is definetly the fault of bad owners that train them to be mean. They do not ask to be kicked, beat, starved, hit or punched, boiling hot water thrown on them with hot pepper sauce in it to turn them mean, etc. They are born with a gentle, loving nature. However, does anyone ever think about why some of the P/B's turned on someone? Granted, if they are distructive to humans they should be taken care of - but ANY dog can turn on us. My feelings - If they can make the laws illegal to own a P/B then how easy will it be to make laws illegal to own any pet and then why do we live in the good ole US of A?

The thing is that pittbulls are just like any other dog. People are just stupid and they abuse the dog or neglect it and it compensates. Its the owners fault that the dog is bad. Its the same it yip-yap dogs, its the owners fault for not getting the dog to shut-up when it was younger. The laws are pointless, people need more training on how to take care of the dog.

Your dog was bred to maim and maul it's chosen target to death.
It was not bred to point prey,
It was not bred to amuse children.
It was not bred to herd livestock.
I have read way too many news articles in which a sweet, lovable Pit Bull encountered a bit of typical stress for a family pet, such as a new child or a loud neighbor, and dragged someone down by the neck and didn't let go of the body until they were shot.
Yes, all dogs bite - No, other dog bites do not need a baseball bat to break off.
So yes, I think they should be illegal.

It's a shame that it's being passed, but the majority of people who own pits seem to treat them badly, neglect them, and some don't even care if they run loose. If they run loose, even a good dog can turn on it's pack behavior, and act very different, especially if they see a little child running around like prey. Instead of euthanizing every pit they catch, I think all pets should be microchipped, and if it gets loose it can be tracked to the owner, so the cops/animal control can see how the pill bulls (and other animals) live.... but if it hurts/kills someone... well.. adios.

Pit bulls are an extremely candy and affectionate breed. The terrible memories you pay attention are a mix of undesirable proprietors and media spins. for occasion while we the place traveling via seatle they have been reporting on a "vicious" pitbull attack on a baby. And all the top lines made it appear as if the pit had merely vicously attacked out of nowhere. yet once you easily watched the story and the interviews what happened became an proprietor tied his canines to a post and went to the bathing room(not smart proprietor) the three females the place on the tire swing linked the post and admitted that whilst swinging the hit the tied up canines 2 cases with the tire swing and on the 0.33 he became and bit between the girls legs then enable circulate. of course this became provoked and led to by ability of the girls as properly as a neglagant proprietor. in case you get a pit and prepare and socialize it, this is going to likely be an excellent canines. remember nonetheless they may be obdurate, and function a extreme prey tension like various terrior so training and socialization is fairly improtant. good success.

I think it is absolutly stupid! All dogs have a tendancy to be violent and aggressive. The government doesn't understand dogs to begin with. I have had the pleasure of working with several pitbulls both in my shop as a groomer and a trainer/behaviorist. I find the breed to be very loyal and affectionate dogs. It is the stupid owners who train them to be aggressive that are the problem. I saw put a law about irrisponsible pet owners, its not the dogs fault.
I personally have a petition going against the laws against pitbulls.
