In case of strawberry birthmarks, as the name is derived from the fruit, so its looks also somewhat like a strawberry. That it is bright red in colour and sticks out of the skin like strawberry.

Birthmarks may develop due to grouping together of blood vessels in one place on the skin. The reason why the blood vessels get grouped together is not clearly known. Blood vessels are the small tubes that helps in carrying blood throughout the body. These types of birthmarks that occur due to collection of blood vessels are also known as hemangioma."
