They will usually ask when they feel curious. So when they ask, tell them the truth!

You won't have to worry about what age to tell the child anything about God because you apparently don't believe that God is real in the first place so you will be teaching the child that view from the beginning.

What six year old isn't dissatisfied at the same time as they locate out that Santa isn't genuine? it would not count number what you imagine, it really is not your baby, it really is not your organization. in case you informed your niece that God isn't genuine you'd be overstepping your limitations as a relative and her father and mom would get truly mad at you. keep your evaluations to your self, not all and diverse has to imagine a similar way as you. enable her figure issues out for herself and make up her own options.

If this is not your child then never in a million years. If this is your child then never in a million years. He is real, just look around you. Look up at the sky at night. Every thing is perfect order. The seasons following in perfect order. The planets revolving in perfect order, the grass and flowers coming out in spring after winter's sleep, each day the sun coming up to a new day. If you do this severe crime them severe punishments await you in the afterlife. Turn back to the Lord and let him be a guide and inspiration to you.

I don't think that I would come out and just one day say that God isn't real. My husband is Christian and I am Wiccan, it even says that on our marriage license. We talked about this before we got married, before we had children back when we were still dating we talked about everything including having children, getting married, our beliefs and differences. We decided that when our kids are old enough to start questioning things like this we are going to let them figure out what is right for them, but until then we are going to expose our son and his future sibling to many different religions and beliefs so then can hopefully be informed and make the right decision for themselves when the time comes.

You should not tell your child that God is not real. If you think that He doesn't exist that is your opinion. If you start telling him what not to believe just because YOU don't feel that way where do you draw the line?

So you think God is like a cosmic Santa? Look, just because some religions have screwed up in your opinion, that doesn't mean God isn't real. Religion is man's way of trying to understand and react to the real presence of God. Isn't it amazing that there are so many different approaches? Are the vast majority of humans stupid, or are you one of those who need proof? Either way, some things are true whether you believe them or not, and in your case that truth is the existence of God. Why do YOU want to lie to your kid?

I don't think you should. Just because you don't believe in God does not mean your child won't believe in God. I think that is something that everyone should be allowed to decide for themselves. People who don't believe are always criticizing those who do for forcing their beliefs on other people. I'm not saying you do, I don't know, but let the child figure it out for them self.

As long as it's your own child who you are planning on raising as an athiest, then you would want to instill your own values and beliefs as soon as possible. But if it's someone else's child, and you want to tell them that God isn't real, I think you should wait until they come to you with theological questions themselves and then you can make your case. I don't think you should interfere with the religious teachings of other people & their children if they don't come to you about it first.

Cornfunkle, could you go away? You have no children, you are sexless, and you're confused about God. Why do you ask these metaphorical questions that have no bearing on your life? And why isn't your question about Santa Clause instead? Yesterday you believed in God (Will God forgive me if I ever manage to get laid and have an abortion?), and now you don't. people teach their kids whatever they believe from the time the kids are born. Now, let me ask you, "Will you wipe me"? And why don't you go pick your nose.
