I have a friend of mine that is female, 154lbs... 5' exactally... She drinks like one a month and wants to get drunk a year from now on her birthday... The problem is the few times (4) she has tried to get drunk, she's done nothing more than gotten tipsey... Two weeks ago, she tried (as a 20th birthday thing)... She drank over half a bottle of 750ml vodca plus several shots of Jose and I think something else... and only got buzzed... now Granted, she was buzzed untill five in the afternoon the next day... but no hangover or was she drunk (they drank from 7pm to 1am)....
Does anyone know how one with this ability can get drunk (just once to say she did it)?
How can this be explained to how she is able to be buzzed for so long after without being drunk?

I have a high tolerance as well, I've finished a fifth (of whisky) with a couple of beers in an hour and a half or so on more than one occasion and been visibly less drunk than most of the other people there (I know my B.A.C. was high, I'm talking visibly), I can't advise doing that, and I'm larger than your friend (6' 2", 225 lbs.), but if she can really drink that and not get that drunk, either drink more or drink faster is all I can say on how people with high tolerance get drunk, but I don't advise drinking much more than that because you can get alcohol poisoning or do something stupid and die.

The problem here are the definitions of "drunk", "buzzed" and "tolerance". If she did indeed drink all of that, then by the standards of any state, she was legally drunk. Legally drunk refers to the blood alcohol contact in the body. In most US States it is .08 percent. If you are saying that buzzed means "a little drunk", then she was well past that. Tolerance HAS NOTHING to do with BAC. Tolerance is the bodies ability to mask the signs of intoxication. That is why someone who drinks regularly may not seem as intoxicated as someone else. Drinking 4 times a year is ot drinking on a regular basis. The signs of intoxications are: lowered inhibitions, imparied coordination, slowed reaction time, and poor judgment. Not all people exhibit all signs. There are other absorption rate factos would could have afected your friends BAC as well.

Please be careful when drinking in such large amounts. I lost a friend to alcohol overdose because she too, was just trying to get drunk. I am not here to preach, as I drink more than my share, and can't admit that I am always responsible about it, but be careful!!!

Do not encourage her to drink! She is either lying to you or hides a drunk very well. Or you were to bombed to notice how bombed she was. No one drinks 1/2 bottle and does shots (even on speed) with out showing signs of drinking
