1Jo 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

So, does this mean to God that if you HATE your neighbor, brother, sister, parent(s), boss, etc...
That he feels HATRED is EQUAL to MURDER???

what is your understanding of this Verse in 1John

Also there is this:
3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

Yes, that scripture is more of a literal one. It's clearly laid out.

It's also similar to another part of the Bible where Jesus equates lust with commiting adultery.

Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

The thing is that God hardly cares for outward appearance, but rather the inward appearance. The Bible says that any deed you do comes from your inward appearance (IE: Heart) and so it's not the intaking of sinful action (IE: getting high, commiting adultery etc.) that defiles a man, but it defiles him when that is what his heart produces.

Mark 7:15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.

So if you have lustful intent it is the same as acting on it to God.

Your second verse is talking about the inner working that happens when you are 'born again'. When you are born again you become a blood bought child of God inwardly. When this happens you are impregnated with the love of God and the Spirit tugs at you and guides you. The inner leading changes your motivations and allows you to act out of love when your flesh nature would normally act out of selfishness.

It is basically saying there is something manifested in the children of God (those who are born again) that is different than the children of devil (those that follow after the flesh). This is the Spirit of God that indwells His children and leads them.

See, God is love and if He has come into you then you will have motivations based on love. It's as simple as that.

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Hope this helps.

3:15 Do you know anyone who murdered somebody they DIDN'T hate?

Hatred is the seed from which murder grows. So anyone who is deliberately harboring hatred for someone in their heart, is harboring the same evil as a murderer. Unforgiveness is a very serious matter in God's eyes. He says that it will keep your prayers for being answered, it will keep your faith from working, and that if you don't forgive others, he will not forgive you.

3:10 If you want to know if someone is really serving God, watch their lives. The real Christians will be doing their best to live right. Those who are not really Christians won't care. They will also do their best to love people around them - even those who have wronged them.

Forgiveness is not always easy. But it is required. If you are having trouble forgiving someone, begin to pray for them. If you are praying for them, asking God to help them and bless them, it is hard to also hate them.

Yes, that's correct. Hatred is a terrible sin in God's eyes.
Now of course, that does not mean that if you hate you may as well murder. Although hatred is abhorrent in God's eyes, silent hatred does not have the same earthly consequences as murder. In no way does this verse suggest you may as well murder the person you hate.
It simply points out the seriousness of hatred and the fact that it is a sin we need to earnestly repent of and avoid.

Yes. If you have hatred in your heart then you are an enemy of God. You cannot have hate in your heart and at the same time show the signs of love. That would be serving two maters and you can't do it. Remember, mankind looks at the outward appearance, but God looks upon the heart. Jesus said if you love Him you will keep His commandments. What are His commandments? First, love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. Who is your neighbor? Anyone you meet.

It is the condition of the heart. If you can see yourself killing anyone in your thoughts, then you are as guilty of murder as if you actually did it. That is why hatred is so bad.

That is why the Christian is to be set apart. Everything that a Christian is to do is supposed to be out of Godly love. 1Jo 3:14 says "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death."

Love is to be our motivation. This is supposed to extend to others not just the Christian brothers and sisters.

Hatred Equated With Murder

Murders issue forth from the heart of an individual. (Mt 15:19; Mr 7:21) Therefore, anyone hating his brother would be a manslayer, a murderer. (1Jo 3:15) Christ Jesus also associated murder with wrong attitudes such as an individual’s continuing wrathful with his brother, speaking abusively to him, or wrongly judging and condemning him as a “despicable fool.” (Mt 5:21, 22)
Such hatred may lead to actual murder. It appears that the words of James (5:6), “You have condemned, you have murdered the righteous one,” may be understood in this light. Wicked rich persons who showed hatred for genuine disciples of God’s Son and took oppressive action against them did in some instances actually murder these Christians. As treatment accorded to his brothers is considered by Christ Jesus to be meted out to him, these persons had also figuratively murdered him, and James evidently had that in mind.

Although followers of Christ might be persecuted and even murdered for righteousness’ sake, they were not to be found suffering for having committed murder or other crimes.

The apostle John says: “He who carries on sin originates with the Devil, because the Devil has been sinning from the beginning.”—1Jo 3:8.

By “the beginning” John clearly means the beginning of Satan’s career of opposition, even as “beginning” is used to refer to the start of the discipleship of Christians at 1 John 2:7; 3:11. John’s words show that, once having introduced sin, Satan continued his sinful course. Hence, any person that “makes sin his business or practice” reveals himself to be a ‘child’ of the Adversary, spiritual offspring reflecting the qualities of his “father.”—The Expositor’s Greek Testament.

Sin put man out of harmony with his Creator. It thereby damaged not only his relations with God but also his relations with the rest of God’s creation, including damage to man’s own self, to his mind, heart, and body. It brought consequences of enormous evil upon the human race.

Yes, in the eyes of God, someone who holds a grudge aganist someone else is just as bad as a murderer since they both have the same state of heart.

Jesus also said that if you cannot forgive others, then God would not forgive your sins, either.

It's referring to Cain.

Also the murderer has no eternal life in him because he still dwells in the flesh. The murderer must be sent to God so that the only person who can forgive him can, the victim.

John is showing that God looks on the heart. When one has hate in his heart it is the root or seeds of murder. Because God judges even the attitudes of the heart these things in our heart make us guilty before God. He teaches us this so that we might not rely on ourselves or our supposed good works. Some will say "I'm a pretty good person so God will not punish me" Here God teaches us that we are all sinful and our hearts condemn us even it outwardly we are a moral person. This is for our own good that we might flee to Christ and be saved. If we don't realize our danger we wont' seek a remedy so we are here taught that we are not righteous and need to be cleansed in the blood of Christ. Those who do flee to Christ and believe in Him then seek to love their brother even as Christ loved them and gave Himself for them.

evil proceeds from within a man.
hatred leads to murder and is therefore related to murder.
if you don't love your fellow man, it does follow, that you would be more likely to commit murder.
the practicle point is:
love of one's fellow man makes for a more peaceful envirnment to live in.
there isn't much of it around though.
