Sometimes war in general is worth the heartache, but not in this case when the benefits for our country are so low as it is in the Iraq war, having said that, we do need to keep enough troops there to stabilise the country and show our enemies we are willing to do what need to be done, even though the reasons for the war are pretty idiotic cosidering there are way way more serious threats to America in the region and elsewhere, but hey when you have idiots in charge, you get idiotic results.

No war is not worth all the heartache it causes the military when people do not believe in them and what they do. When you join the military there's a chance you might go to war. When you become a fireman there's a really good chance you might have to put out a fire. When you become a grocery bagger...well you get the point.
The military does what the Commander in Chief tells them to do, he's the boss and we have no problem with that. The heartache that the world sees is what the media wants you to see. Think about it when's the last time something good was on the news first, always grief, always bad stuff..why..because it sells and that what people want to hear sadly.
The people of the military serve proudly, negative publicity really takes it's toll on some after awhile, if you tell someone over and onver we hate what your doing it gets to them. You never see the positive things that are happening only the bad.
If we, the American people, had the same stance on WW2 as we do now we would never defeated Hitler and ended the concentration camps and there's a good chance we would be speaking German right now.

War against terrorism, in any form, is more than well worth it, it is a must! To not fight it on all fronts will serve to do only one thing, bring it to our shores, and trust me, you do not want that.
In the past there were people running countries that felt it should be peace at any cost. The cost of that belief was horrible.
War should never be the first option. But it must always be a option when required. As long as man has existed on earth there has always been people who want to dominate other people.
Hate, in one form or another has been the hallmark of the human race. This will always be so because it is inbred in us.
So we must be ready to repel it. If we don't we will pay dearly for it, each and everyone of us.
I would hope war to you is what you see on TV. You can thank all the people who have gone before you willing to insure that it is as close as you come to it. They paid the price for your ability to say, do you think this war is worth it, and not fully understand how much it is.
Having said this, I do not think Iraq was necessary. I didn't think it was before we went. It was ill conceived and executed and the lives of many people were lost because of it. I sent an e-mail to the president just before he decided to make his move telling him of my reservations. But of course being one of thousands he never saw it and of course held little import.
Do I think we should now cut and run? No. We must finish what we started and give the Iraq government a chance to form. If we don't then all the lives lost will be in vain. We can not do this for thier sake alone.
It should be said that because we leave Iraq we will not be out of harms way. There is little doubt that terrorism is here to stay and we have a bulls eye painted on our back.

I don't think the war in Iraq is worth a single life, forget about the headache. Bush got us involved in Iraq, by lying to the citizens of America. How can anyone possibly justify all the American lives that are being lost, and the solders that are coming home servery wounded. Bush will be remembered as a President, who was willing to trade a river of American blood, for a trickle of Iraqi oil.

I have to sons and I can only imagine the pain our dead soldiers families are going through, my friends son was a Marine and went through a tour in Iraq he is out now after their vehicle was hit, killed some that he was with. I don't think any Iraqis are worth our men's lives, But we should and must respect our Soldiers ,Americans protesting the war at a Military funeral sickens me.

there always has, and probably always will be, war, heartache, death, disease, and poverty, and lots of other terrible things, this is so we will appreciate love, and kindness, and hope, and unselfishness, If everything was good, we would take it for granted, and it
would become meaningless, This plane that we live on must be this way. We have to evolve to reach a life where there is no misery

As a mother whose son is in Iraq, I pray for him constantly. He told me Mom I know you worry, but this is my job and I love my Country. Is it worth the heartache, I can't answer that but I know that my son is doing something he believes in or he wouldn't have reenlisted twice. He had the opportunity to stay out but he choose what he felt was right and reenlisted.

Or the one that removed the strong-man leader of the fractious nation of Iraq and allowed the sectarian groups to begin waging war with each other? No.
