dont wanna sound shallow and greedy...
but if the diamond is small and ugly OMG i will die.
i dont wanna wear something on my finger for the rest of my life that i dont like.
it has to be something i like, not necessarily big.

You know what, I have an absolutely gorgeous ring. What is even better is that I have a man that went above and beyond his means to give me that ring. I don't care if it was a piece of glass on tin foil I would have said yes. We went and looked at rings together. I had no idea what the one I loved cost and I didnt want to look but he made it happen. He gave me what I wanted not because I asked or whined or he thought I would be disappointed he did it because HE WANTED to do it for me.

For my wedding band I am getting a plain simple white gold band that cost 50 bucks. The marriage is the most important thing to me but the fact that I have a man in my life that loves me with everything he is and will always do his best to provide for me makes me the richest girl in the world. I couldn't care less about the ring, its him I love.

I hope you are not a shallow person because you will either be in debt all your life or marry for money and not for love and become a glorified whore. I know that sounds harsh but if nice things are what you want, work hard for them and do it yourself.

And if you want to see my ring

I didn't get a diamond ring. He proposed with a gold band and that is what I am wearing now and we are about to be married for 1 year July 5th.
I am happy with the man I married. A diamond is just a possession.

My honey is so good looking that I'd get way more attention with him on my arm than any diamond on my hand... at least that's how I feel. Honestly, we've been talking very seriously about marriage for such a long time that it would be silly for him to buy me a ring.

I don't care about the ring, it is only an outside symbol to the world and another money making scheme, and another excuse for girls to show their true money-grabbing tendencies, sometimes it is so embarrassing being a girl as there are so many out there that give us unmaterialistic girls a bad name. If you want a huge diamond, get a job and pay for it yourself.

who cares about the bloody ring! Sure, if my boyfriend ever gives me a ring, I'd love to have a pretty little thing on my fingers, but regardless, even if he made an oopsy on the style of it and it ended up not being something I regularly would wear..Who cares!! He took the time to go out, think of me the entire time, buy a ring, and ask me to be HIS! that's the main part of it all. It's flattering just to know he picked something out while completely and only thinking of you. And if he gets it wrong, then ohwell, he damn well sure tried his hardest. That's good enough for me!

I actually just got into this conversation with my husband the other night. I told him I wasnt exactly happy about the engagement ring he got me (we got engaged Aug 2004). I dont like the setting because it cuts me and snags my clothes. He said if I would have said something to begin with, we would have went and picked something I liked better.

But, really... it shouldnt matter how big the diamond is. Mine is small and its pretty to me.

I dont have that problem. I got a one carat center stone with quarter carats on each side. I was stunned. the wedding part is diamonds that will surround the engagement ring. four carats in total. I will not have to suffer.

well, I needed one to know that he was serious, but now that I've had it for a year or so I realize that it really don't matter if you have it or not because it don't really mean that he wants to marry. in my case, I'm finding out that its just to make people think that we are married because we are older and HE don't like saying the word GIRLFRIEND, he says "wife" to people.
oh, I also didn't want a big one because it catches on things.
and now, just today, I have put it away for now.
