Is it me or is it funny as hell to watch these nanny shows with all these people that are probaly assholes at work on a daily basis get punked-out by their kids. There is no way I would let my child hit, yell, and damn sure not curse at me.

I hate most reality tv shows, but enjoy the nanny shows in limited doses. It's interesting to see the psychology she uses on all members of the household, and seeing that most of the childrens' problems point straight back at the parents. So many of the parents in those shows are too self-absorbed to even consider the house as something that belongs to the whole family -- it's like they believe that someone else filled their house with kids, and they refuse to acknowledge any involvement they had in this process.

If people would look at their own behaviour before attacking their family and friends for 'not being good', 'not loving them enough' etc., the Supernanny's career would be dead within a week.

I love that show!!! No kidding, where did they get those kids anyway, and come on, NO ONE I know lets their kids rule the house the way these people do. Best episode ever was the dad who had the home based business and locked himself in a room, IN THE HOME, while his wife had to deal with the spawn from Hell all day. He would emerge from the room for lunch, which had better be on the table and then retreat to play golf etc. until dinner time. PLEASE!!!

I get a real kick watching Nanny 911. I feel like slapping the crap out of those badd assed kids MYSELF. There should be a law against those kind of kids. In fact, just slap the s*** out of the parents and call it a day.

Do you have kids? I think those parent are just doing their best and have good intentions but do not have good skills because we don't have good role models. Our parents may not live near enough to give advice or their advice is just plain bad because they were bad parents. You need to deal with each child on their own level and what works for one will not necessarily work for another. Don't be too judgmental until you have your own kids and find yourself with a problem you don't have an answer for ;-)

I think it is pretty funny too. Just watched tonight's show. I don't know about of these people but if my kid hit me then he/she would get hit back. It seems people these days are scared of disciplining their children. The shows also helps me to see how lucky I am.

There are many such children... they learned when they were very small that they could get away with it. Every thing a child does is a LEARNED behavior. Thats my 2cents.
Thanks for the question.
Answer, not exactly 'funny' but I do pick up some pointers now an then.

I think it's funny that almost ALL of them are wealthy, surburban preps. The less fortunate obviously know how to raise children.
