I've known this guy for 4 years, we recently met up and realized that we'd both broken up with our long term boyfriend/girlfriend, so we decided to give a relationship a try because we both have liked each other for years. It's been almost a month, and he thinks we should wait to have sex. I know this sounds simple enough, but he's 19 (I'm only a year older) and I have NEVER met a guy that age that would wait. He says we should be *more comfortable* with each other before we take that step. I know I sound like a skeptic in this situation, but I'm wondering if there could be any other reason for him to hold out? ... keep in mind we've known each other for a while.

Aww wow, you've got a keeper.

Its so unbelievably rare to find nice boys like that... most of them just want a quick shag and thats it.

I think thats admirable that I guy in this day and age would want to wait!!!!! You should be happy that he wants to be more committed to you before taking the plunge. Perhaps he wants it to be at a more intimate level. This is good. Im sure a lot of people ((including me)) wished that they would have waited for someone so special. I know a couple that have been together for 4 years. The guy is a few years older than her and he doesnt mind waiting for her ((marriage)) you should be happy with his decision because when it finally happens it will be more special.. I know it sounds cheesy but its soooo true!

It's possible he's just nervous. You said you've known each other for years so that could play into it, too. Maybe he's afraid of taking that next step because once you go that far, you can't go back. Maybe he just likes you so much and is afraid to mess anything up. You've known each other a long time and sex changes things (hopefully for the better).

No it is completely normal there are some guys out there that are truly decent men. and they place a very high amount of respect into having sex. there are generally two kinds of guy the one which is more common is the guy who wants to have sex with anything with 2 legs breasts and no penis. and the other kind is the kind who put more onto sex than most women. they see it as a purely sacred act and they want to make love to the woman they love know they will be with forever and have it a pure and uniquely special thing instead of jumping in with someone they hardly know and moving on.

I think that you should be happy that you have found a man with such high morals. He wants to get to know you as best he can before he takes it to the next level. This is a very admirable quality to have at such a young age. I'd say you found yourself a keeper.

This guy likes you, maybe he respects you and wants that mind connection before the sex messes that all up. Trust me here, sex to early will screw up a good friendship.

Is it normal for a 19 year old girl to want to wait to have sex? Or maybe he's gay! :-O! Just because he doesn't want to have sex doesn't mean that somethings wrong with him. Most girls would die for a guy who didn't pressure them for it!

I think that he is being very respectful towards you. He's a great catch, but if he's too slow for you just let him know so that you can talk about it. I think that he probably has some good values instilled in him.

There's nothing wrong with that. A friend of mine is in his forties and still a virgin. There's plenty of good reasons to wait.
