Peter Rufai (born August 24, 1963 in Lagos) is a former football goalkeeper from Nigeria. He played 65 international matches and scored 1 goal for Nigeria, and played at the Football World Cups in 1994 and 1998 as well as winning the 1994 African Nations Cup.
Rufai became the first Nigerian goalkeeper to play abroad as he signed for Beninese team Dragon FC in 1986. He eventually moved to Europe, his most successful spell being for Portuguese team Farense. Halfway in the 1996/97 he moved to play in Spain and soon found himself with giants Deportivo de La Coruña. Here, however, he was the second choice behind Cameroonian Jacques Songo'o. He played one final season in Portugal before retiring.

Mallam Nasir el-Rufai (b. 16 February 1960) has been Minister of the Abuja Federal Capital Territory since 17 July 2003. He is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP).Previously he was the head of the Bureau of Public Enterprises and key member of the National Council of Privatization where he spearheaded the privatization of many government owned companies. El Rufai is a known crusader against corruption : having previously successfully exposed legislators that demanded bribe from him for ministerial confirmation. Since his leadership at the FCT, he has presided over a real estate boom backed by radical transformation of infrastructure and land use practices of the federal capital earlier riddled with corrupt and vast deviation from the original masterplan. Along with the President, he currently works on the due process committee charged with doing away with Nigeria corrupt past especially relating to contracts and public works.
