Its the modern world. It sucks. The more you make, the more you spend. Bosses make you feel like if you don't work over time you'll lose your job and there is this fear that we won't be able to get another job. When we do one thing extra suddenly it is expected and before you know it you are doing two people's jobs for the salary of one.
Ask yourself this -- are you happy with work taking over your life? If not, its time for a change....
and my motto is this: "Go ahead and fire me, I was looking for a job when I found this one!" It is amazingly liberating -- do your job, but remember it does not have to take over your life, and you can always get another job.
Oh yeah, and don't use your credit cards. Put them in a glass of water in the freezer if you have to... pay more than the monthly payment, and you'll see improvements financially.

Not sure what type of work you do, or how long you have been at it.
I was in a similar situation, in that I had been working 70 - 80 hours a week in the same industry for about 20 years, only to get kicked in the head in the end. I left, and am pursuing my dreams.

There was an article in Dell Horoscope, but I recall reading it in the hard copy, I posted their link, in case you are interested.

My PERSONAL belief is that the Universe is telling you to look in another direction or explore other avenues. Not necessarily to leave your field, but perhaps "tweak" something to make it work in your favor?
Live your dreams.

actually, what we do in life is all up to us, whether we are good at it or not, were happy at it or ot. We have options, always have the chance to choose but we cant decide sometimes coz it will give us trouble, waste of time and lot of efforts and courage to do so. Work is taking over ur life coz maybe you are letting it to do so, vision your options, think what do you really like to do in your life, plan ahead and take an action. Its easier to be said than done i know but if we dont plan now and take actions, when? if its already too late? Goodluck!

Sounds like it's time to re-evaluate what you do. Are you happy? Is it your dream job?
Make adjustments. Look for more pay, challenge, responsibility, etc. Do what it takes to make you happy. Life is too short to work in a hole where you're miserable. Take it from me. One year, I had 13 different jobs. Finally, after farting around and wasting my life, I went back to school, got my degree and now work in the field I've always wanted to work in. It was worth every penny of my college education. Best to ya.

That's true. All my other friends are getting ahead. Don't know about you but I need to work so that I can live. I guess probably in your case you might want to consider another field ?!?

It is a control issue. We cannot control the economy of our country, and living situations often give us additional financial burdens, so we try harder and harder at work, even though it makes no sense. We just keep trying. Try to relax.
Good Luck.

Maybe because you went to college and received some shitty business degree that means nothing and your job sucks. Listen, I consider myself a ********, especially on Y! Answers, but the name "MentalRetard" is totally dick, it makes fun of people who have no choice about who they are...unlike yourself, so maybe you should find another profession

Maybe you should switch jobs if you aren't happy....look around for something that interests you and pursue it...the only thing that can hold you back is yourself. Good luck.

~Welcome to the world. Spend within your means and save the rest. Just because you want it doesn't justify buying it. Those of us with a nestegg call it "budget and save". Or learn to gamble and win.
