Engage your mother as a loving person who's got your best interests in mind. If you're a pre-teen, you will gain a lot more from staying home and having family time than going out past 8:30... besides, what is there to do out there? Something your mother wouldn't like? Remember, she is your legal guardian, and has full responsibility for your well being. Don't try to grow up too quick... do something with your mother at 8:30... it will make your relationship better anyway.

Stay in the damn house. What? You don't think the world will be there in a couple of years? If your friends parents let them jump off a cliff, does that mean yours should, too? Do you know what kind of people are out there after dark? Is there something that you can do in the dark that you can't do in daylight? If there is, you damn sure ain't goin' anywhere!
Sound familiar? More parents should be like yours, as long as they aren't doing it when you're 16. Just suck it up.

You're not going to like this answer, but here goes..............
I'd be thankful that I had a mom who cares enough to see that I am safe. You are not yet a teenager, which means you'll have plenty of time to be out later. You feel like you've lived a lot, sweetie, you haven't. Just be patient, and listen to your mom. Before you know it you'll be older and dating and out with your friends. And, your mom will trust you so your life won't be miserable.
Hang in there...........

If you are a pre-teen, she's right. You should be home by 8:30, unless she's taking you somewhere and picking you up after that time.

At that age, you should be in be 8 and in bed by 9. When you get a little older, more privileges are coming to you. Be a kid as long as you can.

Being a teen, I would probably whine and complain about it.......saying that it is not fair and that everyone else gets to stay out later. But, when I got older, I would realize that she loved me and wanted me safe and that nothing good happens late at night.

Pre-teen? you should be happy she lets you out at all. 8-30 sounds more than reasonable. wait until you turn 13 before negociating for more time.

Give her a big hug,and say thank you. She is protecting you. As you get older, and show her you can be trusted, she will let you go out at a later time. You are still very young.
