My son is really keen to be toilet trained, he sits on the potty and has the build up to potty training "training" down very well...
its the end of winter here, he is 2(next week) and is constantly asking for the potty, being so cold I've tried to get him to hold out for a bit, so my question is..
1) it's still cold, should i just potty train him anyway because of how enthusiastic he is?
2) should I teach him to stand or sit?
and 3)what was your method?

Let him go for it , I say!!

I have two boys and I used a ping pong ball in the toilet, getting them to aim at that , but in the beginning they both sat down. Find out what he prefers and go with it

P.S thanks for the info about the bombers, Good luck to you too tomorrow night!!

Let him potty when he is ready, don't worry about the weather...turn up the heat. I started out letting him sit, but when he got that down, it trained him on standing. I put Froot Loops in the toilet and let him have target practice.

Sounds like he is ready. I don't understand why it should matter if it is winter or not? One trick to use that works well, if you want him to pee in the toilet instead of the potty, throw some cheerios (or similar cereal) in the toilet and tell him to move the cheerios around with his pee. Little boys love this! Plus it trains them to aim for something.

yes you should still put him on the potty the sooner he gets the hang of it the better.. my son sat first only because he saw me sitting, when he could reach the big toilet the he stood up. when you goto the toilet take him with you and encourage him to go as well.

Well its not going to matter what time of the year it is he wants to do it let him cause its not going to be easy....if he's asking to do it do it!I would teach him to sit first then go on from there in a few months hes a tad to small to be aiming it alone...lol......
