-damp the area with warm water
-sprinkle some salt into the area
-add mild soap (or even shampoo ie. neutrogena) to the area
-scrub in circular motion with a brush
-get a cloth to wipe the area off
-rinse the brush you were using and brush this time with warm water only

Try using rubbing alcohol. I had a dog that had a urinary tract infection and had to stay inside while I was at work. I tried everything and nothing worked until I tried the rubbing alcohol. It took the stain and the odor away. Plain rubbing alcohol is inexpensive, and it evaporates quickly. When it has dried up, I cleaned the carpet like normal, and my carpet looks good as new.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU77r
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

yes, call a professional. It gets into the hollows of the fiber, even capillaries up from the carpet backing. Since they're full, regular cleaners don't penetrate it, just like trying to add more water to a full cup. Sometimes, even the pro can't do it, but they have access to the most effective stuff.
Don't get rid of the carpet yet, but the backing issue may have to be addressed also.

Renting the steam cleaner is a good idea, but if you have the money, it's even more efficient to buy a dirt devil steam cleaner for $60 from Wal-Mart. We got one for Christmas, and I can't even tell you how many times we've used it. Our two dogs have thrown up, had diarrhea, and UTIs, not to mention all the things that we spill all the time! It is SO convenient and works SO well!!!

OK.....Here's whatcha do!!!
You get rid of all your carpet!
It does not matter what you use to get up the stain. The urine has already gone through to the carpet pad. The only way to get rid of a urine stain is to get rid of the rug.

I can't believe the answers that some of these ppl are giving you.
I will tell you that if you do what some of them are suggesting, you will ruin your carpet. You need to call a professional.

Use oxy clean and then spray a mixture of vinegar and water 50/50 on the spot where the pee was. He won't potty there again.
