There is very few ways you can calm a dog scared of fireworks but it's not impossible. The best thing you can do is to add distractions that will minimize the sound. If you have a humidifier or air filter that is noisy like an air conditioner then turn it on and put the dog and the unit in a small room where the noise might. Whatever you do don't give a dog some medicine that you might give to humans to make them sleepy as Tylenol will kill an animal and other medicines don't do very well either.

You put him in a room with the tv up loud enough to block out the noise of the fireworks.

You need to de-sensitize your dog to the fireworks. It can be done and I have set up various other programs for owners with the same problem.
Contact me at : thepetproject@zoomshare.com
I will be happy to set something up for you

We have this problem too benedryl is what our vet suggested. I give her one teaspoon at 8:55 which gives it just enough time to help her drowsy and sleep as the fireworks start

the only thing I can suggest is not to take them around fireworks. If you were afraid of dogs and someone were to purposely take you around them, how would it make you feel?

Try to reduce the noise -- if possible -- close the windows. Turn on the TV or radio for background noise. Stay with the pet if you can. Give them a chew toy, or other treat.
