my windows firewall does not work. what can i do?

Get the free version of ZoneAlarm! Windows firewall isn't all that great anyway. Use the link Supplied, Good Luck!

Since the Windows Firewall comes packaged with Service Pack 2, you could try going into Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs and look for Windows Service Pack 2 or something like that and uninstall it, then go to the Microsoft (Windows) Update site and download SP2 again.
It could also be spyware or a virus causing your problems.

or you need to install third party softwares, zone alarm is free! other antivirus has built-in fire walls too...like trendmicro and mccafe

usually you have to do a repiar installallation of xp to get it back, unless you have not installed sp2, if you install sp2 it will put it back
