having a new house built in a golf course community and it is a bigger home.
I can afford this house, but I do feel bad for some kids out there I know of who dont get all this and their parents work as well.
My kid is young and I do not want him to know what it is like to live in poverty as I did as a child.
I want him to grow up in a nice home and have a nice life.
But some people have outright told me I was crazy for building a new home and paying what I did for it.
I see it as an investment.

If you can afford it, go for it. You can use taking care of the house and things like that to teach your child responsibility and pride. Besides it is a good investment. It may be that they are jealous? Also, it insures that you won't have to move again in the future if you do need the room later!

No it is not wrong to buy a bigger house than what is needed..

About your young child... just do not give the child EVERYTHING
the child asks for. Life is not about having it all, also give to others
we do that all the time and if your involved in a church there are families in need that you can give some monies too.

My house is too big for us, my kids know it.. it is not like the one your describing on a golf course but mine is very large with a full finished basement..

If you do not flaunt it, just listen to the others, we get it allot too..
and do not say much back.

We only had 1 tv when we moved into this big house.. now we have more, my kids were brought up in different neighborhoods
one with not much money, one with allot of money, and now this neighborhood is higher end. We do not give the kids everything and now, they actually DO NOT ask..

Good Job, with your life, you mentioned poverty.

I too grew up in poverty, kinda mom on welfare. parents divorced.

Good Investment...

: )

Hi there,
Firstly, you have to define the level of poverty. What you used to go through last time, may not be what your children have to go through this time.
It is also not wrong in wanting the best for our children, (I'm saying this because I'm expecting my first born, and I'm already thinking how I can give the best to my child), but we have to sit down and think whether this is a "need" or a "want".
My personal opinion (no offence), since you have to financial ability to afford the new house, I believe you can provide sufficiently for your children, even without building a new house. These cash might as well be used for some other investment in their education or others.

sounds like people are jeolous that you are able to afford a house like that. You will need the room because kids spread their stuff everywhere. You're right about it being an investment. Give it 10 years or so and it will probably double or triple in value. Good luck with it!!!!!!

If you can afford a nice home and a better life for your child than don't let other people make you feel quilty for it. A home is something you can have for the rest of your life and who says you won't want to expand your family later?
I think these people are just jealous of you honestly..
screw them, have your house built and enjoy your success!!

money is usefull because it is used, it dies when stays
so just make sure you used it to gain back the loss so you can use it again, roll it roll it right,
poverty is a way of thinking, no matter how much money you have, if you feel not enough, then you are poor.... if you can't give than you are not rich.....

it just all depends on you. if you have the money and the house is something you want, then buy the house. and you purchasing the house is definitely an investment.
