Any physical activity will cause you to burn calories. I'm sure if you do a lot of ironing they add up. You will always burn more calories ironing than you will sitting on your butt.

Try ironing while running in place, or move a stationary bike next to the ironing board and work out while you're ironing.
Or in your other hand, lift a dumbbell. Be sure to switch hands every once in a while. This may cause uneven ironing, but you will have a more balanced workout that way.
Another option is putting the ironing board on the floor and doing situps and one-armed pushups next to or over the top of the board and iron. Once again, this will cause uneven ironing, but it all depends on the result you desire.
In other words, no, I don't think ironing itself can cause you to lose weight. But try it and be sure to let us know what happens! :-)

If you're ironing fast enough to get your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes. I wouldn't recommend it though.
