don't panic. it takes alot of blood to bleed to death, and it sounds like you only saw just a little tiny bit.
Alot of things can cause that, from worms to hemorroids to other things. If the blood was bright red the problem lies closer to the tail area (colon, rectum, etc) and if the problem lies up in the stomach or higher in the digestive track, the blood looks black and clotted because its been there longer while it moves through.
The vet will tell you more. stay calm and call tomorrow.

With the presence of blood in his stool, you should bring your dog to your veterinarian for a physical exam, and a fecal analysis of a fresh sample. Playing the odds, there's a good chance of finding either Giardia (a small parasite), or an overgrowth of certain kinds of bacteria. These bacteria can produce toxins that attack the wall of the intestines, causing loss of water and diarrhea.
Since you found just a little.. I would NOT get excited and go to a n emergency clinic where you will have to pay a fortune.. I would WATCH the dog and see if blood is cited again the next time it poops... If it is present.. then carefully collect a sample of the poop with a plastic spoon and put into a plastic(not metal) container (or a totally glass container) and take it to the vet.... but not as an emergency. I suspect that it will not happen again and if it does, it is probably as I stated above... and then you can take that sample into the vet.

It really needs to see a vet. It is possible that it could of ate something that cut him when he went to the bathroom, also it could be worms, it doesn;t sound like parvo. Is the dog eating and drinking. your question is a little vague. keep an eye on it. If it is eating and drinking water just keep an eye on its stool and check for blood. If it continues you need to find an overnight emergency vet if any. Some vet clinics if you call the number has an emergency number you can call so if it continues i would try that. It will cost more for an emergency call.

If the poop was a normal consistancy, niether too soft or too hard, it is most likly to be worms causing the internal bleeding. You can get wormer for round worms at pet supplies, but tape worms require a veterinary prescription remedy.
If your dog continues to eat and drink normally, he isn't in grave danger before the vets open on Wednesday.
If he has been eating any cooked chicken bones, this would be cause for bleeding in spots as well. Be sure to tell your vet if he has.
If he acts sick, or gets worse, your vet should have an emergency call number listed when you call his/her voicemail.

Don't worry too much about it unless you notice a lot of blood, it could be a hemorrhoid, but there are vets offices that have emergency services. Most vets do, just call the # and they will have a vet call you.
If the dog is eating okay and doesn't seem sluggish she should be well.
It is good to take her to the vet as soon as you can. Good luck. I hope your doggy is well, don't worry too much about it. My kitty does that sometimes too and I was told she was just straining .

Don't panic! A small amount of blood in the poop can be a result of diarrhea or constipation. Just keep a close eye on it. If the situation gets worse, find a vet with an emergency hot line. If it doesn't, take your pet in as soon as you can just to be safe.

Don't be scared.
Passing a little blood in the urine is normal for many mammals. You can wait until after the 4th to see a vet without really hurting your pet. If you see a LOT of blood in his poop then you can worry, that is a sign of G.I. bleeding.

there are emergency hospitals you can find on in your area. blood in stool is not good but it may not be as bad as you think. is your dog feeling ok, any changes that you have seen like not eating ,just laying around if so a visit to the vet is needed asap. if not it could be intestinal parasites or some kind if intestinal bug.

in portland, or we have a vet open 24/7 call them and ask them what they think you should do before you spend potentially a lot of money. They may still tell you to come in with your pet but at least you know what you should do or look out for. the number for Dove Lewis is: 503-228-7281

she does need to go to the vet. the only think i could suggest is to love and take as good care of her as what you are doing right now. that is the best that you could do right now. as soon as the vets open again take her to make sure it is not anything too serious. she will do just fine until then. my dog had that problem just recently, she was just nervious about something. it was the first time i had seen that as well. again it could be something serious but she would be fine until the vets open again. then again, it could be only nerves.
