the guest should go get checked out by a doctor to see if he has rabies... also see if you can tame the dog, or see if you can train it to be nicer to guests but font give your best friend to animal control, theyll just put it down

I don't know if the guest is going to be ok...I'm not a doctor. When was the last time your dog was looked at by a Vet? When did your dog last have all of it's shots/boosters? If the dog hasn't had all the required shots your "guest" can have the animal control come and guaranteen the dog since the dog bit the guest...If it has been proven that the dog hasn't had all of it's shots you will probably be sited for neglect and the dog will be permanently removed from your home.

Without license? Meaning, your dog doesn't have his rabies or county license? If your guest goes to the doctor for the bite it is standard precedure to check your dog. You can get a fine for not having him licensed.

The next time you have a guest come to the door, you need to pick up your dog before opening the door or put him in another closed room. I suggest obedience school also.

Unless your dog was provoked by your guest, it could be a one time incident.

If he wasn't then you have a illtempered dog with bad breeding.
Anyone else here thinking of getting a chihuahua? They have been overbred and when this happens temperments are bad in many of the dogs. Since the taco bell dog came out these pups have been overly mass produced.

the guest will be fine. A rabbid dog will usually turn on its owner too, not just a guest. Keep the dog, but get it registered and vacinated. These days dogs can get so many things and heart worms are the easiest to get and one of the most painful for you and the dog. You also might want try to boost your own confidence and let the dog know whos boss. Remember he is a Dog before he is a family member. Treat him like a dog. If you don't like a certain behavior, disaplin him "right" when he is doing it. Don't wait or hessitate. Don't let your dog see you in a weak position either. He will think someone must be dominent and take charge and you'll have to gain that alpha male statis all over again.

First you must understand why your dog bit and the circumstances why your dog felt the need to bite.
Please go to: http://www.thepetproject.zoomshare.com
Go to Pet Tips and read the article: "How to tell if your dog has a superiority complex and what to do about it"
There is a reason why your dog bit. Dogs do not bite for no reason. Was this person leaning over your dog? Was this person staring at your dog or startled the dog in anyway? Is your dog the leader of the pack without you knowing it?
With proper training and a re-assesment of the leadership in your home you can change this behaviour.
Try this first before doing anything like taking the dog to be destroyed, which animal control is known to do.

I will be happy to set up a program to get your dog on the right track again.

If the dog has not had rabies shots, then the only safe thing to do is give the dog to animal control and have your guest go to a doctor right away. This is especially important if biting someone is not the dog's usual behavior.

Its bit dammit! Your dog bit the guest! Not "my dog bited the guest" or " My dog jumped up and bite the guest"! Either you are the dumbest person ever, or you are an 8 year old.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/BIncI

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.
