I think that it is important everyone look at the factual side of this and the emotional side. I am Mexican, but all my family is legal. It hurts to see my people so troubled and all they want is a dream.

Don't you think it would be crowded if everyone had all their relatives come just because they are of the same nationality and you feel sorry for them ? All the Irish-Greek-Italian-Polish-Swedes-Japanese-Chinese and all---
We would have to say no-sometime

If I were in a place where my dreams had little or no chance of coming true, I would definatly go where there was a possibility. Still, there are people already there who are trying to make their dreams come true also. The problem right now seems to be that we don't have enough funds to make everyone's dream come true, so most people have an opinion that the ones who were already there and promised that they would have a chance to get what they wanted out of life should have precedense over those who came to the place without having to go through the neccesary channels to make it legal. Our nation simply wasn't prepared to handle so many hungry dreamers, and when food is limited (metephorically speaking) we each have to define and defend our rights to a part of it. Either way, somebody is going without food tonight.

Well, just take a look on the statistics… each day the illegal community grows, not only in the States but in many European countries. As the economies of the developed countries grow the third world is every day a bit poorer.. So, people have to go somewhere else to make money… the issue is how are we going to cope with it?

I think illegal immigration has become a hot issue because Americans are interested in securing the borders so terrorists don't get in the country. The debate has expanded into what to do about the people who have already crossed the border and reside here illegally.

Because millions of aliens are entering this country ILLEGALLY. They are evading immigration laws which are in place for a reason. We cannot support such an unending, unchecked influx of people, especially from lower income brackets. Many are breaking laws by forging documents and stealing ss #'s. They are displacing American workers and depressing wages, stressing social services, social security, welfare, and schools. If you want to look at facts, do some research to see what havoc will be wreaked on legitimate citizens of this country if amnesty is granted. It's scary. Americans are not being mean. In fact, compared to other countries, America is pretty generous with immigrants. (Contrast our immigration policies with Mexico's; it is like night and day). Americans are merely trying to defend their country and protect themselves against the onslaught of illegal invaders who have no regard for our laws and who come here waving the flags of their homelands and demanding rights. Demanding rights!!?? I was not the only one who really got PO'd at that.

Lots of immigrants are "hard workers" that "have dreams". BUT THEY MUST FOLLOW THE LAW IF THEY WANT TO COME HERE. We can't just throw open the gates to everybody in the world that wants to come to the US. We have granted amnesty before, and the result has been more illegal entries. Illegals anticipate amnesty so they continue to pour in here. What kind of message does the granting of amnesty to illegals send to those immigrants who repected to laws of this country enough to go through the sometimes very lengthy process of becoming legal? If I was in line to get my citizenship legally, and illegals suddenly were given a fast track, I would be mad as hell. Legitimate Americans feel as though their government is ignoring them, and, instead, catering to a very vocal, BUT ILLEGAL, group of aliens.

America has got to put its foot down NOW.

It is a hot issue because of the huge numbers of them we are subsidizing for education and services to the point where our own people can no longer get decent education and services in the places where illegal immigrants concentrate. It isn't a matter of do we like them do we not like them. It is a matter of, do our education and health services have enough excess after adequately providing for our own to also cover those many millions of illegal immigrants here already. That is not to mention the other legal immigrants as well as future illegal immigrants that would be drawn here by the Senate Bill.

I am against illegal immigration because since we subsidize education and health care for poor people here, even if they pay all taxes, we need to limit the number of those who come.

Illegal immigrants bring a FAR disproportionate amount of crime for their numbers, no matter whose numbers you use, as well. Obviously, not every illegal immigrant fits that profile, but the percentage of criminals is extraordinary given the percentage of the overall population they form.

What do you think the LEGAL Americans want??!!! We should be helping OUR poor people, there are PLENTY of them in this country!! But our citizens are DENIED their dream, instead we are spending BILLIONS of tax dollars each year on FOREIGNERS,who are ONLY here for the MONEY they can get out of us!!!!!
How do you think it made US feel when the ILLEGALS marched in our streets, carrying the MEXICAN flag in THIS country??!! It was like a SLAP IN THE FACE to every citizen that LOVES this country!!!! In FACT,it PISSED OFF a lot of the American-Mexicans!!! This is America, NO OTHER flag flies above the STARS AND STRIPES!!!!

i agree, the immigrants just want a chance... if they tried to do it legally, they would be turned away, and they are scared, some people dont have time to go thru the process before they get killed, raped or something worse. so they come illegally. Its a hot issue because they are trying to turn away from the terrorists who are not even thinking about coming in thru no borders, they are thinking about something worse to do to us. I live by the canadian border and i dont see anything inhuman going on like the mexican border, america wanting to shoot immigrants when they come over is just sick and pathetic, i tell you thats why my grandmother says when god comes for the world he is coming to america first!

we as americans are losing our dream to the illegal immigration problem i wish there was a way to solve the problem without having people leave america but it has become an epidemic to the point that we as people of this country are being put out in our own homeland what if americans started coming into mexico by the thousands a day to take their jobs and take advantage of their system they would be screaming for our heads

mostly because there are over 12 million illegals in the country and with terrorism on the rise, many cells are coming out of mexico as its easy to get across. many use fake id's and documents. it puts a strain on the welfare system, health care and prison systems. i know many mexicans and all of them have at least five kids or more. several got caught by getting food stamps claiming they don't know the father and got busted. hrs has more mexican children than any other. just about the entire country is over here now. 20 years from now, most of central america will be over here. the families that have gotten status long ago take in the families that sneak over getting fake documents. many americans want jobs and its a myth that they work the jobs we don't want. i know hundreds of people who would take anything and can't get it as its filled up with aliens. plus america is english and you have many that lived here years and can't speak or understand it. if you moved to a foreign country to work, you learn the language to get along with the culture as your working with those people.

Many people apply to come into Canada and the United States legally. In order to come to our countries they have to wait months if not years. Other people (the illegals ) come here on visitor visas and decide to stay. It is not fair to those that are doing the right thing. Also, people sneak into both countries and decide to stay. Also wrong
