My dr wants me to take 250mg 3x a day and I feel that's WAY to much. I am going to just be on this med once it is in my system and come off abilify.

You should not second-guess your doctor. If you lack confidence in him/her, get a second opinion from another psychiatrist. Actually, it is the nature of our disorder to cause us to be skeptical/paranoid.
Believe me, 750mg of Depakote per day is a small dosage. Good Luck !

I would try not to think of it in terms of a 'normal' dose. Dosage depends on a persons age, weight, chemistry, etc. Take it and see how you feel. Keep an open line of communication with your doctor and let him/her know how you're feeling once you start it. It's hard to trust that they are doing what's best for you, but sometimes you have to give it a shot and see how it goes.

Your dose does not seem particularly high or abnormal. Questions regarding your dosage should be directed to your Physician. Testing blood levels and liver function is essential for many of these medications.

I was taking 250 mg 3x a day for Bipolar. It depends on what your diagnosis is, but if the dr. is prescribing it it'd take it. But if you're concerned, call and ask, discuss your concerns before you stop taking this.

I'd say around 250 to 750 without becoming toxic
