It's the urea in the dog's urine which is converted to ammonia by bacteria in the soil. The ammonia burns the grass and turns it yellow. The easiest thing to do is to hose down the area after your dog potties. That dilutes the urine and prevents the spots.

For spots that have already formed, rake away the dead grass and soak the area with water. Scratch up the soil a little and sprinkle on grass seed. Then walk over the area to push the seeds into the soil. Water every day. I find the grass seed specified for high traffic areas works best.

If you see the dog pee, get the hose and run water on the area. If it has already turned yellow, wait and then unfortunately the nitrogen in the pee will cause a darker green ring around the yellow. You could try painting petals on the grass and pretend it's a big flower.

Ask your vet for a product call "green-um" It is a tablet you feed to your dog to adjust the PH of the urine. As for the lawn, you can try to replant some grass seed but the grass that is yellow is dead and will not come back.

i would rake the area with a stiff metal rake. i would then put two different kinds of grass seed... one that is a perenial (takes a while to grow but will come back year after year AND use one that is an annual (because it will start growing within a few days and will last until the perenial comes up) MAKE SURE that you water all of the little spots each day for about a week... just a light watering... then it should grow fine on it's own

There is some chemical at the lawn and garden store for that.
It just brings the acid level down.

I'm not really sure about this, but if you put tomato sauce on your dog's water, it will lower the acid in his urine. I heard about this before, but i'm not sure if you need to put something else on your dog's water. You should try the tomato sauce tough. I think that you should put about a table spoon of tomato sauce for every liter of water in the water container. Hope it works.
