You are taking that quote out of context.
Read about the ark of the Covenant when God commanded Moses to make two statues of angels of pure gold.

nobody knows what He looks like, that is just a popular impression many artists have used, i think He was more jewish looking myself, but nobody knows, we know only that we were created in the image of His Father and we are all so diverse there is no way of knowing til ya get to heaven!!

long ago people put animal/dead spirits into statutes / pictures and worship them and that's considered blasphemy because they should only worship God, the Creator. So, in today's world as long as the statute and pictures donot have spirits in them... then its ok.
