New to this so need to add some details. He is 21, no insurance and will go to Dr. by Wed. is not better. Not RMSF, haven't change det. Doesn't look like poison ivy. Think its heat but haven't found pic that matches yet. Going to try cool shower, benedril and corn starch powder this evening. I would never risk my child at any age. Just though someone might have dealt with this before. Its on stomach, neck, arms and a little on back of legs. He has been mowing on ridding mower wearing a shirt and swimming but not really anything else. His land has poison ivy but I know what that looks like as I just got cleared up from it. I'm sorry I didn't give enough details and caused someone to think I was not going to make sure he was check out.

Well, well, everybody has mention heat rash, but no one has read carefully, the affected areas are only were he had clothes on. There's only one answer for this... thie is an allergic reaction to detergent. Why, cause he has the area of tummy, back of legs, and neck. he was wearing a swimming trunks (bad choice to use out of water, the material is not a good breather one) and the area where the collar of the shirt was, the detergent on the clothes react with the sweat, causing the tiny red dots. The best treatment is shower him with any oatmeal soap, then apply Caladryl Lotion ( is an OTC ) and put some ctton clothes already washed only with water. for the next two days, let him wear loose clothes and it will dissapear. One last question, Did you live in South east Florida? just wondering......its seem very similar to the sea lice reaction...... please let me know

It sounds like it could be heat rash. If the red, itchy dots are not anywhere else, it seems that chicken pox and an allergic reaction to a new laundry detergent are out. Have you tried putting on some baby powder? Should this persist, take him to the doctors.

Yeah could be allergic reaction to detergent or even food. Another possibility is molluscum contagiosum if the red dots have a slightly indented or flat top to them.

If its RMSF it will not be raised dots and that rash usually appears on tops of feet or hands, arms, legs and lower abdomen.

Could even be a case of chiggers.

It could be heat rash or an allergic reaction to something. It also could be chicken pox if it is spreading. If it is not spreading i would put some cortisone on it to relive the itching. And some bendryl if you think it may be an allergy. If it doesn't go away call the doctor.

It is possible it is a heat rash, but could also be something else, like an allergic reaction to something. Best to have a doctor determine the cause just to make sure.

It sounds like it might be. If he starts to run a fever or the spots spread, have a Doctor look at him. Let him play in a tub of coolish water with baking soda or oatmeal ( you can buy it in the bath products aisle at a pharmacy). Afterwards put some baby powder on him.

heat rash dosen't normally itch...but it does burn a little when you clean it with anything other than soap & water.

if you are sure its heat...just keep it clean and let him run around without a shirt on, expose it to the air as much as possible

if it is itchy but not spreading you can give him a dose of children's benadryl...if it is spreading you need to have the pediatrition look at it.

If it is a heat rash, it should go away by morning if you bathe him and keep him cool throughout the night. If there is still a rash tomorrow, maybe you should take him to his pediatrician.
