I would have been done with him long ago. If it has been 2 years and there hasn't been any sign of any change, it isn't worth persuing. It also seems like he has had problems in the past if his ex left him, I think you are walking into a major let down if you stay with him. Good luck.

Ask your self Do i really love this guy ? Do i really want to spend the rest of my life with him knowing he has a addiction? and if you truely love him and you think he will change than stay with him.

You can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped. Break up with him. You deserve much more than he can offer you and I'm not talking about financial and material things.

I believe you shouldn't be with him but be his friend and try to push to the right direction. You could make go cold turkey. But if you think he needs you and you like being needed then stay.
