Retired Navy answeer... Boot Camp is as hard or as easy as you make it..I use to tell my people to remember alot of people done it without any problems and so can you..I went in as a nothing and retired as a Comander..Of cause it helps with fitness, any workout does.. The attitude part depends on you..Boot canp is to teach you what you"ll need to know once your in the fleet..And YES it does help... Dont worry its a piece of cake...I spent 22 years there and it was just like any other job except when I retired, Well I do alot ALOT better then most people who retire from reg work.. The moneys good..I've lived in 8 states and all my children say there glad I stayed in..You just do the best you can and you"ll do just fine, PROMIS, its not a jail..Get all the schooling you can get as it will help when you get out...I know alot of people who retired from 2 jobs and dont make what I do, keep that in mind, it is a good life.. GOOD LUCK AND HANG IN THERE.. CDR ROB

The Air Force and Navy are both running their Basic Training to model them after the Army's based on such a high casualty rate after assuming ground operations in Iraq.

You have to be able to do a mile and a half (time depends on your age) run. Sit up and push ups (the number required also depend on your age). You'll run a lot in boot camp, not much after that, but it will get you in shape and it really isn't that bad. I enjoyed boot camp...it was actually fun. I learned a lot and met some great people!

Only the Air Force is easier, the Navy and the Air Force, and most of the Army are co-ed recruit training. Only the Marine Corps has seperate training for men and women.
