You didn't state what breed of dog, oh well, anyhow, if the animal is hyper, seek an assistant to steady the dog and keep him calm.
Is the shot ready to administer? Did you get a syringe and two vials of medicine - one powder, one liquid? If you have to mix, take the syringe and inject into the liquid bottle, turn bottle upside down and as you get close to the end slowly pull the needle out to get all of the liquid, now inject this into the powder bottle and mix real well, now repeat the same procedure for emptying of the liquid. Hold the syringe with needle up and 'thunk it' a couple of times to get the air bubbles to the top, now carefully press in on the syringe until a little jet of liquid comes out.
Now to the dog, pinch his skin between his shoulders (not hard - just enough to some loose skin), insert the needle into his skin, not into a muscle or vein, best to pull back on the syringe to make sure you are not in a vein. Slowly press the syringe all the way in and viola your dog has his 7-way and you saved yourself apx. $25.00.

The vet actually gave it to you to do at home? That sounds really fishy. Are you sure he's a real vet? Most veterinarians will not send injections home for the owner to do themselves, especially without giving them proper instructions. I think you should call another vet and have them do it at their clinic. Plus, the vaccine needs to be kept cold. Have you kept it in the refrigerator?

I use the seven way shot on all my pets, it saves me alot of money. Its easy to give them the shot, just take the loose skin on the back of the neck, right at the shoulder blades and pull the skin up, take the shot and stick it in the lose skin, don't rub it, and don't worry if it seems to be a knot afterwards, its normal and will go down in a week. gl
