Steps:
1. Allow hard avocados three to five days to ripen at room temperature. A ripe avocado is soft to the touch.

2. Store avocados in a paper bag. Put an apple in the bag to ripen them more quickly.

3. Store ripe avocados in the refrigerator for up to one week.

4. To remove the seed from an avocado, cut in half lengthwise (going around the pit), and separate the avocado into two halves. If the avocado is ripe, this should be easy. Lightly knock your knife into the pit, so that it sticks there. Give the knife a small turn to the right or left and lift up to remove the pit.)

another suggestion..
if you have a rice container.. place it inside if you want to eat 2 or 3 pieces then do the other on the procedure above..

Avocados left on a counter top at room temperature will usually ripen within 5-10 days, depending on the season of the crop. Spring season avocados will take longer to ripen than fall and winter season avocados
To ripen avocados quickly, place in a paper bag on your counter with an apple or banana. This can reduce ripening time by up to three days.

The brown paper bag idea is indeed correct, but you should leave them in a place that gets a lot of airflow, not in a cabinet. The brown bag protects the fruit from insects/direct light but allows airflow as the bag is semipermeable. The banana idea will work to a point; bananas release ethylene gas, which will react with the skin of the avocado, ripening it. This is the same method (sans banana) that is used to artificially ripen tomatoes as they go to the supermarket. It will look ripe, but not taste it.

Well when i want my tomatoes to ripen I would put them in a brown paper bag with a banana, so I guess the same goes for avacados.
Thats a good price, where did you buy them?

Put them in a bag with a banana. The banana will give of a gas that will help ripen any other fruit.

Either wrap them in newspaper or put them in a paper bag then leave them on the counter for a day or two....this works for all fruits.
