escorts are more expensive, better looking, usually cleaner, are run through a legitimate business plan, and attract wealthier clientel.

Not all escorts do the sex thing--with alot of them its an option--with even more of them it IS the deal--they are supposedly the class act in this world of circus clowns--but that's not always the case
On average they'll run considerably costlier but THAT isn't always the case--these are the folks that used to be called "call girls"----And in the world of prostitution your looking at sex AS the deal and these folks can be working from a dark alley in ghetto land to the hotest property in the high rent district from the 10 spot trick to the 3000 usd dreamweaver and they really don't care about going with you anywhere to "socialize" --the escort seems to thrive on that input--kinda like they have to have that to make it seem as if they're on a real date to rationalize it all

A prostitute promises sex for pay, and that's illegal.
An escort just promises to go out with you.
Of course an escort service is a great cover for a prostitution ring, and some are.

Escort is what the rich people like to call it.
In some states escort services are legal, whereas prostitution is illegal in most all states, except a couple.

I don't think there is a difference except maybe price and one is legal and the other is not.
Seriously, a few years ago I was just looking for "arm candy" for a fancy dinner party. So I called up an "escort" service and they began asking all kinds of questions to the point I knew what this was about. They also asked about $300 an hour. NO WAY!

Price. Most prostitutes are supporting a habit (drugs, alcohol), and will be cheap. Go into any ally for a quickie.
Escorts are cleaner, more upper scale, dress better, etc....So one would not be ashamed of being seen. Escorts usually have a choice on whether to have sex or not.

An escort gets paid to be a companion with the benefit of sex if the client so chooses. A prostitute offers sex without the benefit of true companionship (i.e. conversation and company) (I'm sure the price has alot to do with it to! ;0)

An escort will go out with you and see you safely back to your door. But will go no further.
unless it is a police escort then the escort will see you
all the way back to your room (cell) before locking you in.
