Big fillings can be quite sensitive for a couple of weeks after they're done, but usually they're only sensitive to very cold or very hot things and the pain is only for a few seconds at a time. If you're having pain lasting longer, you might have a problem with the nerve in your tooth and you should go back to your dentist and have him check it out.

I think you should go back to see if the filling is up to high .. they need to use articulate paper( looks like blue wax paper) to have you bite down to make sure there's not to much in the tooth which in that case they drill a little away to bite properly. Also it can take a while to get use to the filling in your tooth but it shouldn't be painful.. if they take some away it should clear it up.. sometimes tho, the filling can be very close to the nerve which means they drilled deep. in that case there may be a chance for a root canal in future if it was a 5 surface filling. we have 5 surfaces for a tooth. 1being small 5 being huge.

i had the same problem firstly do go back to your dentist not only for a check up but also ask them is there more filling than the remaining tooth because mine was like that and over time i developed recurring abscesses and got a infections time after time i had to have the tooth out. maybe in your case some antiseptic mouthwash might help your filling and paracetamol I'm not sure just ask them to do a xray to check there is no infection brewing up under it. good luck.

It could be different things. If it was an amalgam filling, the metal conducts cold, so that should go away in a couple of weeks. It could also be that the tooth is a little high on the bite. You could go back and the dentist will check to see the occlusion, to make sure it is fine.

sometimes a filling can be sensitive after it's been done and it quite big. if it still hurts after a couple more days, then go back to the dentist, you might need some other kind of treatment, possibly a root canal. (not trying to scare you). for now take some tylenol or motrin and monitor the pain to see if it goes away.

Depending on why it's hurting, maybe in 4 to 8 days. Why don't you go see, your dentist, on Wednsday?
