What religions oppose Halloween? We think it's fun but some people get really weird about it. A lady at my child's school made a big deal last year about them not celebrating Halloween. Just wondering if certain religions have rules against it or is it more of a family choice?

Some people are misinformed and think it's a devil worshipping holiday. Some have this disillusion that if you celebrate Halloween, you'll grow up to be a Satan worshipper. That's so dumb! It's just a fun holiday where you get to dress up and get candy. That's all it is to most people.

Jehovah's Witnesses oppose Halloween. I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness. I'm not today, but a lot of there basic morals and beliefs I still carry with me. I have to say I don't care for Halloween to much myself, but I think it has more to do with the day and age that we live in. People use Halloween to do crazy and off the wall things. They just get crazy.

Many are opposed to Halloween, not because of what it is today, but what it represented from the past. Many people died because of the reason for Halloween represented evil in the view of many Christians in the early centuries of the catholic church prior to the reformation which started the protestant churches under Luther and others. and just for your information Christmas is also from a pagan holiday under the Romans in the 4th century. According to modern research using the bible as providing certain facts as source material, and using known astronomical data from today, as well as astrological research available to the Magi in the time of Jesus birth, Jesus was born in April, 4 B.C. and the Star of Bethlehem wasn't a star at all, but the planet Jupiter, the "star" of the kings of Judah. Don't believe me, but research this on the history channel.

For some strange reason Muslims and Christians oppose it. I'm not sure about other races. I think Halloween is perfectly fine kid-approved holiday. Im a christian and as soon as my little boy turns 3 were trick a treatin. I already dressed him up as nija last year! He was a big hit even though he stayed hime and passed out candy out to bigger kids. We both had a blast!

Jehovah's Witness's oppose most holidays. Also, most super-ultra-fundamentalist and Baptist Churches oppose Halloween. I believe it should be a family choice, but I think the days of trick-or-treating are over. Parties, both private and community-sponsored, are fine with me.

I know the Protestant Branch of Christianity usually does, as most believe Halloween is a pagan holiday, and thus shouldn't be celebrated.

More of a family choice, but Christianity does oppose it due to the message of celebrating death and the spirits, etc...

I think it's pretty stupid that people bother to get all upset about it. It's one night, right?

I do get the celebrating death thing, though, but then, wouldn't that (for Christians, anyway) be like celebrating heaven? Because in their religion, when you die, you go heaven...?

Anyway, i think it is a fun occasion for kids to get dressed up and get candy. It's also a good occasion to have a party.

I'm a christian, and I loved halloween when I was a kid. I don't see anything wrong with children wearing funny costumes, sharing candy with each other, and enjoying life.

What could possibly be anti-christian about that?
(except the cavities you get afterward, cavities are from the devil)
