Question: How much is an Iraqi life worth? Answer: A lot less than an American or British life, according to the amount of compensation paid to the relatives of victims.

During the siege of Fallujah, where US soldiers killed 18 people and wounded 78 during an April 2004 firefight, the American military commander in the area paid $1,500 for each fatality and $500 for each injury.

Last year a Seattle woman was awarded $45,000 for the wrongful death of her cat.

Of course during a war, why are we even paying anyone anything that are in the nation we are attacking.

And the cost of living is different, 1000 may be well several years income and actually worth more to them than 50,000 here in the US. You can not merley compaire dollar figures.

And of course this is the problem, we are comparing rights, law sutis and all sorts of legal issues to a war, people are suppose to be killed in a war, and it happens.

ALL lives are created equal.
Jesus knew it & it is part of the American Consitution. I often wonder where the flag waving, Gung Ho, Bible Thumpers are actually getting their Xenophobic ideas from.

Fr Chuck:: 'People are supposed to be killed in a War, it happens'. What about 'Thou shalt not Kill?' What about YOU soliciting kindness, decency, humanity and goodness, rather than throwing around cliched comments? WHO is supposed to be killed? you? your friends? your family?, or only 'foreigners?'

In paying this money we are acting in accordance with Iraqi custom.

If you have a problem with this - then maybe you need to start complaining about the Iraqis and their customs.

Iraqi people do not cherish life as much as American or British people. If they did cherish life do you think they would send suicide bombers to their deaths.
