I asked a question and got a few sweet messages for people in the military. I know a few people in the service and I'd like everyone to spread their thanks to them so I can email this page to them (or at least print it and send it to them)
My message to them: I want to thank you for all you have done for us!! I don't have the courage to do what you have done! Thank you for picking up where I have slacked! Thanks to all of the military! Past, Present, and Future!
Again I can't say it enough thank you and god bless each and every one of you!!

Anyone in the military has my respect and thanks. We should also be sure and thank the vets of foreign wars. I don't think any WWI vets are left and the time is fast approaching when taps will be played for the last WWII vets.

These men and women paid a dear price, some with their lives Others pay to this day, with continual suffering, so that most of us can revel in the comforts of personal and political hedonism.

I don't know if it was my mothers quote; but she quoted it to me often. It is worth remembering when we think about our people in the military.
-----"You get Nothing in this life,
that somebody else hasn't paid for."

Whether someone is pro or anti the military action in Iraq, I think they should be able understand and agree with your point.

Nice poem ("might as well live"), by the way; I've kept a copy for future use in similar contexts....

As former Navy Squid of eight years

often I wonder what the heck i did it all for....

Then a simple thank you like yours, reminds me and my pride swells up with the fondness that I have served, then the residual pain inflicted by the horrors fade away a little more.

Thank you my friend Peace be with you

Just a big thanks to people like you I am active Army and have been to Afghanistan once and Iraq twice and I am going back for a third time next year. And I would like to say remember all the fallen and how hard it is on not just the families but also for the soldiers who have fought with and lost good friends. It's hard to see your buddies dead when you just went through the same fight. Again thanks!

Yes I agree also. People in the military don't get enough respect for what they do. They put themselves in harms way for us. It behooves me to think about how brave our solders are and having to put up with people in the gov and our country not appreciating what they do for us. Our solders are the best, bravest, and most honorable in the world. I'm a good American but I pale in comparison to any one of them. We all do.

I would like to thank you for being so kind. I'm a proud army wife, and my husband is currently in Iraq for a year. It brings tears to my eyes to see civilians take pride in their country and help support our troops! I forwarded this message to my husband, and i'm sure he'll appreciate it as much as i did. Thank you again!
