I am anS and he kept briniI and my brother was the first one I told, and he revealed to me that he did on ''occassion''.When I got help for it he sat down with me one night and said the kids at his school male fun of cutters and tell them they should just'do it and stop messing around'and he kept brining it up the whole time we were together, and he would use flares like he wuld say that too!And he also made some very upsetting remarks for example,we were eating steak and my grandmother asked how I would like mine, and he whispered,if she can cut it and it bleeds, then that's how she wants it.I love my brother but I don't understand this at all.

It is unfortunate, but the snitty, snotty remarks are his way of not understanding what you are going through, or his way of not knowing how to help you or deal with your pain.
It might be very hard to do, but take it in stride, and just ignore him. Ignorance can be like blinding sunlight sometimes.
And brother's can just sometimes be uncaring, selfish asses.
Next time, as much as it hurts, try to laugh at one of is stupid remarks and see his response!

Sounds like your brother is pretty messed up too. Are you both minors? I would suggest you talk with your parents about this. You don't want him to cause you to relapse. There is always something behind bullying and this is bullying. Even iff it is behind a family member. If your parents don't listen find someone who will.

I used to be a SI. I did it for 7 years. It was really hard to stop, and it was before everyone in school was doing it. I went to many therapists and no one knew what to do. Anyways, nowadays, kids are doing it for themselves, and others to make themselves feel welcome into groups of other kids that do it. There are still kids (and adults alike) that do it because it releases a feeling of relief. If you are really worried that he really might harm himself one day, suggest that he talk to someone, parents, school counselor. Please email me if you have anymore q's. GLTC
