How do I know if my boyfriend cares for me the same way I care for him?

We are both 18 and have been together over a year and a half. I know he loves me, but how can I tell if he is as serious about our relationship as I am? How can I tell if he cares for me, loves me more or differently than past girlfriends? How can I tell how he feels about me? How can I tell what he sees me as (ie-just a fling, someone he could have a future with, his soul mate, etc)?
