Our Pappillon seems to anticipate our every move. He even seems to understand what we are saying before we are finished saying it. My wife can be talking softly downstairs and the conversation moves to something that involves him...we haven't even mentioned his name and he comes running downstairs stops abruptly, sits down and stares at us, cocks his head (you know that thing that they do), and listens intently... There's more but I want some initial feedback.... If you have a Pappillon, please respond either way.

Animals are very telepathic. It is very possible that he is "hearing" you. I have had many animals communicate with me in this manner...especially a cocker spaniel we got as a puppy...he was amazing...we would literally think the commands to him and he would do every one of them in order of our thoughts! We would always mix up his commands when we did them verbally, so he didn't learn a "routine"...it was purely random. There is a very special bond between humans and animals and if the pet "parent" is open minded enough, you can most definitely communicate in this manner! Give it a try...think a command to him & see what happens.

Certainly I would agree with you, although my experience is not as obvious as yours. I would be walking around the house getting ready and thinking about taking my Papillons on a joyride with me around town. I have yet to grab my keys but the second that the thought crosses my mind, both my dogs are latched onto my ankles and there would be no way to get them off until I leave the house. Both my Papillons love to sleep in during the morning hours so if I'm not really considering the idea about taking them along, they won't leave their crates for nothing, at least not that early in the morning.
