it is needed to learn the number some of the alphabet, learn mentally, how to do puzzles, and learn to think well. They develop socially learn to be with friend which is very important. And they will be educated how to mix colours, and which colour they get, or how to play with plasticine. it is important.

Preschool is becoming more popular due to the need for quality education, while both parents are working, or for letting a child experience routine with cognitive and socialization skills. A child that waits for kindergarten may be a little less prepared for structure, but not always.
Some preschool programs an no better than daycare, but some incorporate a learning curriculum, such as Land of the Letter People (McGraw-Hill), or Tools of the Mind/Highscope Approach, etc. In my opinion, children who have a teacher driven program are better off.....
For the structured preschool programs, a child will be introduced to the alphabet, numbers, writing, imaginative play, etc. A good teacher will incorporate themes that will introduce a child to higher thinking - by use of songs and props.
You can tell if your child is ready to attend a structured environment.
Good luck!

As a teacher of pre-school/pre kinder, I can say this.....
It is a introduction to the school setting with out the must pass to move on pressure of kinder garden. It helps them to get used the rules and procedures, sharing with there class mates, getting along with others without the security of a parent, and basic teachings of ABC's, 123's, writing there names and etc. National studies have proved that children who attend pre-school do 40%better in school then those who do not.

I don't know. I am a stay at home mom and My 2and a half year old will literally spend hours looking at her books and talking out loud as though she is reading them. She can also count with me up to 50 and to 20 by herself (most 5 year old children can't do that) Further more she knows her whole alphabet both upper and lower case. My advice is if you can stay home and teach her then do it. If not that is exactly what pre kinder is suppose to be for. I myself will not have my daughter attend. However it is true that social skills are very important and she will be attending pre school while i attend college. ( i need an eduacation badly to make more money)!!!

PreSchool teaches kids how to get along in a large group of kids all the same age. How to sit still, listen and keep their hands to themselves. It is all about social skills and building independence from their parents. You can't succeed in Kindergarten with out social and emotional development. I highly recommend at least 2 day per week preschool for a child the year before Kindergarten.

If you can be home to teach the child, then you will be the preferred.
If you work, then pre-K will provide the guidance the child needs to prepare for Kindergarten.
Children acclamate better to Kindergarten when abc's and play habits are already known before starting school.

Preschool is to help them learn their basics, colors, shapes, numbers, name. but mostly it gets them prepared for being away from their parents, and learning to listen to other people other than their parents. It is more for discipline, and social skills than anything. I reccomend pre-school, most kids who attend pre-school have a higher success rate, my son went for 2 years and he's been at the top of his class since, he stars junior high this year.
