I think a friend of mine has an eating disorder - she lost about 20 pounds really rapidly and she says she doesn't know why. She refuses to go to a doctor, but she looks really sick - her hair is really thin and starting to fall out and her face is all sunken in. How can i convince her to go for help?

If she's over 18, all you can do is talk to her about how worried you are about her and ask her to seek treatment. If she's under 18, talk to her mom or another adult, like a school counselor who might can help her.

Make an appointment in her name, then tell her to go to the doctor with you cause there's something seriously wrong with you, then when you get in there tell the doctor it's not you but her. She'll be stuck, maybe someone on the outside can convince her that she's sick. Either that or scare her by looking up all these horrible diseases with her symptoms, maybe she doesn't have an eating disorder, maybe she's really sick.

Tell your parents, tell your teacher, your school counselor, your school nurse, even tell her parents, tell someone you trust that can help.

It's very hard to see a friend who needs help refuse to take it. If they won't listen to you, you have to get help for them.

That much weight loss and the symptoms you describe are indicative of an eating disorder or possibly another underlying disease.

Your friend needs help before she becomes anymore ill.

you may start with DHS. and see if there is any way they could get her some help. You may wish to talk to her family and tell them how worried you are for her health. If no one is willing to help you, can't make her go to her Dr. You may have to wait untill she gets so weak that she has to go to the ER. Try an Intervention.

Tell her it's probably no big deal, she just needs some vitamins or something, and go with her to the doctor. Maybe even make the appointment for her and take her.

You have to sit her down and talk about it and let her know that you'll not let anyone who doesn't have to know, know about it if she confesses, tell her that you know something is wrong and she could kill herself if she keeps it up. See really needs to get to a doctor.Hope it works out for your friend's sake. Good Luck

She needs to have some blood tests done. IF it is a medical reason it could be her thyroid, easy fix or worse.

It could also be she is way into crystal meth

well, one thing to do is go to her parents and tell them...also, you could make a group of people who are also worried and make ideas to use.
