They can do many things.
Having read your questions it is clear that you realise that you have a problem and that you want to do something about it.
However all your questions have been about the symptoms you are suffering, the desire to cut yourself, your need for comforting what options are open for you. etc. You have not actually talked about the cause of your problems, what is making you so depressed.
Ultimately in order to resolve your problems you need to open up to someone about the underlying problems. Trained staff on these hot lines may be able to get you to open up and identify why you feel the way that you do.
You will also have noticed that many of the people that have answered your questions have said such things as you need to see your doctor, see a psychiatrist etc. However as a 13 year old child it is likely that you have no idea how to go about seeking such help. The crisis helpline can help advise you on how to go about seeking the help you need.
Another benefit of a crisis helpline is that they will not judge you or criticise you no matter what you tell them. Unlike the many answers that you have received to your questions where the answerers have been insulting and mean to you.
You are obviously intelligent, and you have recognised that you need to be very careful about people who contact you over the internet. Although the majority of emails you will have received will be from people genuinely concerned about your welfare there may be some who will try to decieve you pretending to be sympathetic but having ulterior, malign motives behind their contact. Unfortunately you have no way to tell which email is from a genuinely concerned person and you should treat them all with equal suspision. A recognised crisis hotline will be able to tell you who you should be able to trust in your community.
Please try the helpline again, they will be patient with you and let you talk at your own speed. Don't feel that you are wasting their time, you are not.
Wishing I could give you that big hug you so desparately need,
John

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to START talking.
With a 'crisis hot line', you can start the talking - in complete anonymity!
They may not be able to tell you anything new about cutting, but they will listen without judging you - after all, they know it's whatever gets you through that counts.
Anyway - don't be so down on yourself - LOTS of people cut - it's just a way of managing, and like I said - whatever gets you through!
E-mail me and I can talk more openly on this subject.............

Wow, i'm no relationship expert yet that sounds enormously tousled. men do no longer exchange so do no longer assume him changing. If he's making you experience like this then think of roughly what you get from the relationship you need to no longer be unhappy or down each and all of the time and you need to no longer experience neglected and unhappy bodily via the guy which you're with. verbal replace is a good sized element in a relationship, so in case you refer to him approximately this and he would not do something to help restoration the variety you experience then it won't exchange. You 2 have ben together for an prolonged time and it must be troublesome to come again out into the relationship international surprisingly considering the fact which you adore him (in basic terms a sprint hypothesis) yet he isn't the only guy or woman accessible for you, and you will discover somebody (do no longer enable him think of that there is something incorrect with you, you're able to be able to desire to hearken to your self and weigh what's important). there are various different men accessible which will make you happy interior the techniques that he won't be able to. i do no longer think of he's a foul guy, he could be very effective and cope with you nicely in a lo of techniques yet in a wholesome relationship those emotions are no longer elementary, and in the event that they do upward push up the two events artwork to repair issues out. In end, attempt conversing, be right this moment forward and if his solutions do no longer make experience call him out on it, do no longer worry if he gets mad b/c in case you 2 extremely do artwork nicely together he gets over it. If it would not get greater proper then it's time to circulate on, do you certainly should have those subjects something of your existence?

The idea is that you have confidentiality and can be anonymous and this provides people the opportunity to talk about things they don't feel able to with family or friends.
There's no judgment passed, you don't have to look that person in the eye and you won't bump in to them in street.
Some times there is a lot of useful information about what can help you cope with whats going on.
Just saying it out load can make a big difference :-)

Some times talking to someone helps allot. The sound of some ones voice that has bin there really helps. The key is to trust them. These people are there because the want to help. They know what it's like because they where there.
And if it bad enough that this doesn't help Please go to your place of worship and ask the minster for help. He or she will help you and still be quite about it. If you feel that this will not help go to a Catholic Church. You may not agree with them but they will help you. After that go to a fire station they will help you if you have bin cutting lately and they will talk you.
Good luck I will pray for you.

Give them a call and give it a go. If at any point you don't wish to continue you can simply hang up without needing to say good-bye.
'Crisis hotlines' are there to help you, they won't tell you off for doing something wrong and will be friendly toward you.
You should however check as to what their policy is in terms of privacy/confidentiality as some may contact someone else if they fear for your safety.
You say that you want to discuss about your self harm then try http://www.q2a.co.uk and submit your problem/question to them. You can choose to use any screenname and it doesn't involve signing up to anything.
Good luck and take care :-)

Sometimes these people have a little more information than we do, and can suggest another way of dealing with things that maybe we didnt think of, or just didnt bother trying. I would have confidence in their experience and give them a chance. You obviously need help in dealing with your issues, because the way that you are handling them wont work. Hurting yourself is a complete waste of time and doesnt change anything.

I guess they are just there to comfort people and to let them know that there are people who want to listen. You mentioned that you wanted to talk to someone about your cutting, have you tried the website www.recoveryourlife.com? Its really quite good because you can talk to people who have gone through the same experiences and have come over it. You can talk to them online for some support and they won't be patronising towards you at all because they know exactly what you are going through. Try going to the online support room on the web page. Hope this helps =)

It's better to speak to a hot -line than a family member, because nobody wants to know that some of their members has psychological problem, and they do not want to take responsibility for yours when they have a lot to deal in there own life. the people in the ho-line are there to listen not judge and help any way they can they will not victimise you a second time
