i downloaded a program that is compressed as a rar file and i need to know how to open it so windows can read it..haha, and i dont know what kind of program i need to read that file

well first off you best be sure you can trust that file. it could contain a virus. RAR extension is a compression of many files like a zip file. get a program you feel you like so try a few out. i myself use ExtractNow. i like that program for compressing files.

You have to download the rar program and install it on your computer and then it works like the zip program with the zip files.

It's a compression format like .zip or .sit files. You need WinRAR, or a similar RAR archive program, which you can google or search for on tucows.com or download.com

download Winrar software. it can extract most kinds of files like files with the .zip extension
