Good luck with that. There is a loophole about wives being innocent of the husbands fraud, because perhaps you signed a statement without looking, or perhaps your signature was forged...if this is you..go to IRS.GOV and find out what form you need.

Yes, there is an innocent spouse provision in the tax code. You can access it at www.irs.gov.
But you should also look at your divorce decree and separation agreement. Does it say anything about your taxes? If you are in community property state ( all western states) then you may be liable. If you are in an equitable division state ( the other 38 states), your lawyer should have made some provision for the taxes not paid.
There may even be a provision, and there will be in a well written divorce, that if he does not pay, then he would be in contempt of court. And if you did your divorce yourself, now you know why you needed a lawyer.

You don't give enough information. You could be liable if you
were married to him at the time the IRS is questioning, especially
if you filled a joint return, or signed the return, or listed him as the
return prepairer. You need to contact IRS for more information.
