yep. Used to live in Fallbrook. Don't worry, surfers can still go next to Camp Pendleton to San O'nofre, the best surfing beach in CA.

Yes its a marine base in southern California and a very large one, and its very hot there in the summertime and desert like. I didn't see the entire base but I don't think there was anywhere to surf except outside the base perimeter or main gate. I would think someone may be spoofing you about it being off limits to civilian surfers. As I seen it there was an expressway between the base and the ocean.

USMC Base outside San Diego, CA. All marine recruits west of the Mississippi River attend Boot Camp there.

It's a Marine Corp base. If you want to surf go to San Onofre.

It is Boot Camp for the United States Marines Corps!!!! Yes, I have heard of it. I have been there.
